Unit Shifters

The UNIT SHIFTERS are an extremely high-energy live rock band specializing in Psychedelic Grunge Rock. We enjoy the likes of more contemporary acts such as: The Raconteurs, Melt Banana, Midnite Snake, Eagles of Death Metal and the Black Keys. We also thoroughly enjoy covering live tracks by: The Wipers, Queens of the Stone Age, Fang, Shocking Blue, Velvet Underground, and Nirvana. We are an aggressively DIY punk spirited band focused on saving the children and we can guarantee, dig us or not, you will not soon forget the very first time you experienced the UNIT SHIFTERS.

WHAT SETS US APART?

We have the sound of the new generation, not the last trend... Timeless and Contemporary, making efforts to push the edge while still maintaining a pop sensibility. We work hard and have built our style and sound after the acts that we love, including: The Zombies, Queens of the Stone Age, The Beach Boys, Nirvana, Velvet Underground, The Doors, The Pixies and of course bits of Credence Clearwater Revival and The James Gang. We've produced 5 records in the last 15 months released as 1 single, 3 EPs and 1 LP. We've done everything in-house and about to press our first 1000 vinyl records (FEB 28th, 2009). We have independently funded the production of dozens of hats and shirts, hundreds of CD's and thousands of stickers, and we try to toss out as much as possible at every show for free. Of course even more has been spent on gas money... we've done 2 tours on our own: 1 to Los Angeles for featured spot on the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre's ASSSCATS special with Matt Besser and another to Chicago and back touring through all of our respective hometowns.
We're not in this band because we were popular in high school. We're not trying to be the next big thing, next big things go by the wayside quicker than everyone involved can realize how much money they lost. We know that money making, long lasting musical acts, that really matter and make an impact a generation or two later are not based on trends, they are based on rudimentary facets of familiarity and enjoyability. Chuck Berry still kicks ass, and so do the UNIT SHIFTERS!
