Bio

The year is 1993 and on one morning in Bordentown, NJ Jimmy Moss (bottom left) wakes up with the image of the name of a band called U.N.I. “Universal Noise Inc.” The band only lived in his dreams until 2003 while living in Sioux Falls, SD and on vacation heading out to Branson, MO, Jimmy was thrown from the vehicle in a 70mph automobile accident. While he lay face down in the ditch, awaiting life flight to take him to the hospital, he thought to himself, “What have I really done with my life?”
Dissatisfied with his review of himself, he reflected on the one thing he had always dreamed of doing, but never accomplished. He wanted to make a living on stage like his father did. (Fred Moss…Clefs of Lavender Hill [mid 60’s]) “My dad’s moment was short lived. I swore I’d pick up where he left off.”
After three months of recovering from his injuries, Jimmy set out to make his dream band a reality. With the help of friend, singer/songwriter Tony Spoonemore (upper left), Jimmy began writing lyrics and music, and U.N.I. was born. In the beginning it was Jimmy on vocals playing guitar and Tony on background vocals playing guitar. Although, drummers and bassists came and went they held on to Jimmy’s dream. September 2005 Ryan Pounds (center) joins the band through an advertisement that U.N.I. put out on the streets of Sioux Falls. Ryan brought a heaviness that can only come from a bass guitar and a heavy rock background to play it with and the music began to evolve. One month later Sean Larsen (bottom right) is brought in by Ryan and joins as the drummer. With techniques like doubles over trips and everything in between, this monster drummer takes the music to a whole new level. So, the music and the band was formed.

U.N.I. is Universal Noise!

Heavy rock served with fast and slow funk, blues, alternative and metal sounds topped off with melodic and hardcore vocals. Often times they have been compared to Godsmack, Seether and Chevelle.
With a commanding stage presence U.N.I. gives the listener a ride on the heavy rock express. It is obvious that U.N.I is in control. They command their instruments with such a powerful presence that it screams to the audience and grabs their attention. You will be captivated by their talent of combining poetry and metal. Their voices shake your soul as their instruments shake the very foundation of the building you are in. Non-stop to the isle of imagonnarocku where the rock that moves you are the waves that crash you down and lift you back up.
Jimmy Moss’ blends smooth but powerful vocals, reminiscent of Greg Allman. However, in songs like Perfect Light and No More you will find a touch of the stylings of groups like “Nikelback” with a tinge of “Audioslave”.

There's a new noise in town and it's called Universal Noise, Inc.
