Bio
Hailing from Adelaide - Australia, Universum completed formation in early 2007. Fusing Scandinavian melodic death metal, NWOAHM and old school metal elements, Universum have set forth to create their own distinct brand of heavy melodic metal.
Founded by Stephen Murphy, Jaron Soininen and Michael Soininen, the band began rehearsing as a three piece and soon after was joined by Rachael Madden on keys and Synth. With the challenge ahead to find the two remaining members, the group continued to focus time and energy toward producing and rehearsing more material. Rehearsals with various musicians eventually led to appointment of Liam Brophy on Bass in late 2006, and in early 2007 Adam Soininen was welcomed to the band on lead vocals.
With the lineup complete, Universum emerged on the Adelaide and Australian metal scene with over 30,000 song plays on Myspace, support appearances for established bands such as The Jonestown Syndicate and Skintilla, and have appeared on Three D Radio’s Powersurge segment.
Current plans include the recording of a full length album in early 2008 and live performances both locally and interstate throughout the coming months.
