Defn. to unleash the nugget (verb inf.): to allow one’s inner fool to wreak havoc on the world.

Derived from the ‘burbs of Hobart, Tasmania, Unleash The Nugget (UTN) are THE definitive band on how to get the party started. Hailing from the ‘burbs’ of Hobart, this hiphop/funk/party explosion are set to take over Tassie, then the mainland, then the planet Earth with their Aussie brand of party goodness.

Unleash The Nugget had their beginnings at Rosny College in Tasmania’s South during 2002 as a 6-piece act. They have since honed and developed their own blend of musicianship and lyrical mastery to deliver high energy, high precision shows with attitude. Today, Unleash the Nugget sports a 3-piece horn section, drums, electric bass, keyboards, guitar and two MCs.

2006
•Featured in Ralph magazine (June issue page 143)
•Support for Melbourne Hip Hop act True Live in two sold-out nights.
•Selected for inclusion on the TuneTank Compilation CD to promote international artists at MIDEM 2006 in Cannes, France.
•Finalist in the Hip-Hop section of the Session-II John Lennon Songwriting Contest for the song “Next Level”.

2005
•Winner of the Tasmanian National Campus Band Competition final.
•Top 5 in the Hip Hop section of the Music Oz competition for up & coming new unsigned artists.
•Various gigs with national acts including with Thirsty Merc, Downsyde, Butterfingers, Jebediah and Muph & Plutonic.

2004
•2nd in MusicOz competition (Hip Hop Section)
•Release of debut EP ‘Chickens in the Closet’
•Performed at The Falls Festival, Marion Bay, Tasmania.
