Unnatural Act is an exciting cover band out of northern Illinois servicing a good part of the Midwest with their relevant interpretations of some of rock’s greatest songs. Somewhat of a “supergroup” , Unnatural Act consists of Russ Katzenmaier- guitar (The Desotos, Atomic Zombies, Last Judgement), Michael Poulsen –bass guitar, keys, vocals(Risk Factor, I.V.Q., Last Judgement), Phil Kwiek- guitar, bass (Listen, Systems Rebourne, Last Judgement), Dave Saam- drums (British Steel, N.I.L.8), and Annie B.- vocals (Shut Up Marie, and not to mention her solo career). Unnatural Act’s mission since they formed in 2006 has been to bring a premium brand of rock and roll to every venue, and to show everybody there an Unnaturally good time.

Unnatural Act brings an eccentric set list spanning all genres from any decade managing to take the songs that have made their way into our preverbial D.N.A. and bring them to the masses in one lump sum. Their stage show combines the frills and excitement of an arena band with the classic shtick of Vaudeville of old. They may wear short sleeves, but they have tricks up them! Always full of surprises, it’s not unusual to see “special guests” performing with them. Only their professionalism can top their performances. Unnatural Act is always on time (if not early), and never ends up a drunken idiocy (in other words… no “issues”) and always, always, deliver the goods!

The band Unnatural Act has been playing venues all over Northern Illinois and Chicago at private events and clubs such as Flatlander’s, Sharky’s, A.J.’s, On Cue and many more. Individually the members of this band have played all over the country in many major venues. Mike (who’s played the organ since age 3 and the bass since 5) has played the Chicago Polish Festival in front of thousands. Russ (whose obsession with guitar started at the age of 6) has opened for Less Than Jake and Agent Orange. Phil, along with Russ and Mike, played the Gateway Theater, the Thirsty Whale, and the Vic Theater in the band Last Judgement. Dave has played for over ten years in different clubs throughout Illinois and Wisconsin and has been honing the craft of drum for over 30 years! Annie has been on and off tour traveling the country with her solo project,and her old band, Shut Up Marie, dominated the local L.A. scene for several years between 1999 and 2005. The combination of experience, diversity of influence (everything from 80’s pop, arena rock, country, prog rock, metal, punk, blues and on and on….) mixes together to produce… an Unnatural Act!

Unnatural Act has one and only goal, to provide a good time for all- at any occasion. They are the premier band to play at a club, private party, corporate event, laundry mat-opening, festival, opening for a national act, or fair. Once booked, they can guarantee an Unnaturally good time!
