Bio

It is a rare thing when an artist can take on challenges of life and make it one of the true voices for rap music. This talented artist will grip you with his stage presence and his high energy performance.

Born John Thompson, Q2B also known as Quick 2 Blast has developed a style of writing and reciting that is very universal. Looking up to what he calls “legendary artists” like UGK, Master P, Too Short, Ghetto Boys, 8 Ball & MJG, & Tela, gave him the confidence and inspiration to write and perform.

Q2B’s reputation as a rap artist started growing after doing drops for WJMI, a local radio station in Jackson, Ms. From there he was able to become an opening act for many major artists that came to town. Sharing the stage with Jive recording artists Mystikal, UGK, Ghetto Boys, and Too Short, just to name a few.

Always creating new concepts, Q2B is quick to say that “my music is very diverse and I basically write depending on how I feel at that time. What ever I am feeling that’s what you’ll get, like it or not, but it’s real. A lot of my inspiration comes from being raised without a father watching mom work, cook, clean, struggle, cry, hurt, fight, and through all of that make time to stop and show us how much we mean to her. She often told us (us meaning me, my brother, and sister) how much she loved us. Watching her deal with different emotions help me get through a lot of things growing up. That’s why each song I write is so different. I guess I’m dealing with different emotions mentally”.

On July 14, 1997, Q2B was nominated, and won “RAP ARTISTS OF THE YEAR” at the Bellsouth Mobility Jackson Music Awards in Jackson, Ms.

Q2B is also featured on the "PAINTING SHADOWS" movie soundtrack (Track #13) which features other well known artists like G-Units Young Buck, and Universal recording artist Pastor Troy.

Acclaimed as one of the “Hottest Artists on the Brink” in May 2005 during the “T3 (THE THIRD THURSDAY NEW ARTISTS SHOWCASE) in Anniston, Al, and hailed as “the best-kept secret on Alabama’s indie hip-hop scene”, Q2B is becoming a household name in the music industry.

"Q2B” is arguably one of the most gifted and critically well-received rap artists in years. Looking not only for success in music, but Q2B is also looking forward to branching off into movies and television in the near future. Q2B is definitely moving up and there is no telling how far he will go.
