Unusable Signal

Unusable Signal was brought to life in the fall of 2009. Comprised of 4 band members that have differing musical backgrounds, we have successfully melded our influences into a unique blend. We realize and respect each others talents and creativeness and therefore give each of us license to create our own parts, and as a band, develop and meld these parts cohesively into one song. Because of this, we have created songs that appeal to a wide variety of tastes. We also believe that our songs are a great way to tell the world how we view things. Celebrities, musical or otherwise, have a great influence in the world around them, and we believe that they can and should use their notoriety to change it. This is an important aim for our band. If we can bring self-awareness to even one person, we consider ourselves a success.

We have had some difficulty assigning our music to a specific genre as there are elements that fit in several. Joshua Kiss, drummer, fits best in the heavy metal, hard core rock genre. Joel Lott, guitarist, is most heavily influenced by folk music. While Chrys Waya and I are most influenced by classical music. We have had people call our music goth, rock, industrial, alternative, and even midnight cafe.

Aside from the run of the mill "we all get along" speech, what makes our band work is our organized way of building our songs. It starts with our talented keyboardist, Chrys, creating the backbone of our songs. We each then build upon this, often composing on our own first, and presenting our parts to the band. A bit of tweeking here and there, and the angels start to sing.

We have presented our music to several groups of people, from all ages and backgrounds, and we have always walked away with compliments. We have had very young children and babies dance to our music and our venerable folk claim that our sound is pleasing. So, of course, everyone in between just loves it! We guarantee that however you hear our music, your foot will continue to tap.
