Heavenly vocals yet down-to-earth personality, eccentric guitar voicings yet pop. Covers with arrangements that spin the originals out. Originals that rock yo' soul. So much sound!

Biography

The two kids in class with all of the talent and none of the gumption get thrown together in a karaoke box and form an explosive chemical reaction. That's Up@2.

Tzaddi Bondi played supporting roles as actor and chorus member with the Western Stage in California as well as through college. Previously too shy to take center stage, now she's all for being the center of attention! An actor's polish and a stadium-sized shining personality.

Joelle Bacic's first musical experience was as the winner of the songwriting competition at the Willamette Valley Folk Festival with "Johnny Will You Wait". Overwhelmed by all the other talent, retired immediately.

Ten years later, both now in Japan, Joelle and Tzaddi were invited to the same karaoke gathering. Tzaddi crooned Whitney Houston and Faith Hill while Joelle sang Elton John and Depeche Mode. Nauseating the others with countless duets ranging from Lionel Richie & Diana Ross and Peabo Bryson & Regina Bell to the Human League's poppy boy & girl vocals, this was UP@2's first performance. Improv one might call it.

Not bad for two people who didn't know each other.

On their third performance as a band, they won the local Battle of the Bands contest by playing 2 original tunes, "Muse" and "So Meet Me There."

They gained the attention of a former Japanese folk singer who opened his bar to them with the words "play here any time you want." All subsequent gigs at Acoustic Bear and all other gigging opportunities have been pitched at Up@2. It just goes to show: Their sound is contagious.

Lyrics

Going Crazy

Written By: Joelle Scrbacic

(VERSE 1)
I think I see your lips
painted a million times in the trees
But someone tells me that it's just the seasons passing
There's crimson
and it's in all the autumn leaves

(CHORUS)
Something tells me that
there's more to life than what we see here
because I feel your warm embrace
in everything I see, hear, feel
And it's so much
I'm going crazy

(VERSE 2)
I think I see your hair
shimmering in the moonlit night
but it's just a meteor shower
How the shooting stars
they carelessly draw
streaks across the sky like wavy blondy hair

(CHORUS)
Something tells me that
there's more to life than what we see here
because I feel your warm embrace
in everything I see, hear, feel
And it's so much
I'm going crazy

(INSTRUMENTAL)

(BRIDGE)
Feel you
Feel you like you're next to me
and I lean to pull you closer--I've gone crazy
Feeling like you're next to me
in the sway of the curtains
the song of the night rain
I feel your hand slide over mine
I'm outta my mind

Something tells me that
there's more to life than what we see here
because I feel your warm embrace
in everything--EVERYTHING

(CHORUS)
Something tells me that
there's more to life than what we see here
because I feel your warm embrace
in everything I see, hear, feel
And it's so much
I'm going crazy

Going crazy without you, darling

So Meet Me There

Written By: J. Bacic (music/lyrics); T. Bondi (lyrics)

(verse 1)
It's late at night
as I write you this letter
Being away from you
has taken its toll
and I need to see you

(response)
So meet me there
Say you'll meet me there

(verse 2)
I feel the warm night
reaching toward me
It pulls me to you
begging me to hold you

(response)
So meet me there beside the river tonight
I wait in anxious wonder
Will I see your shadow near mine?

Need to feel you near
(Meet me there)
Should I meet you there?

(verse 3)
It's late at night
as I open your letter
The warmth of your words
form your body, your hair
and I long to feel you

(response)
Wanna see you there
Just can't meet you there

(bridge)
Your gaze, your touch
Everything is right
Moments in hiding
We're always hiding
and I can't take this no more

(finale)
So meet me there
beside the river today
in the light, in the light
not against the moon tonight

Caress you there
beside the river you say
in the light, in the light
right before judgmental eyes

So hold me there
beside the river this time
in the light, in the light
tight against your chest
in broad daylight

I'll meet you there
Meet your
gaze, your touch
Ooooo
in the light
Everything is right

Muse

Written By: Joelle Bacic

Take these words
walk away
you inspire

(VERSE 1)
Lead, lead me into dream
and you’ll find that
you’ll awake on a page of my open heart

Be, be just mine to keep
‘cause you know
I won’t leave you sighing
lying here alone

I’m calling for you Muse to keep
keep me in your dreams
so lyrical
and keep away from the pain of a lonely heart
(Ooh yeah yeah yeah yeah)

(CHORUS)
Don’t you walk away
(No way)
take my words and walk away
(No wa-ay)
call another Muse to take my place
(Not with your lyre next to me)
Then I will always be inspiring!

(VERSE 2)
Keep, keep me in your dreams
so lyrical
and keep away from the pain of a lonely heart
(Ooh yeah yeah yeah yeah)

(BRIDGE)
And when you’re all alone
no single ode
no passion
lead me to your world
say “Cradle me
(Cradle me!)

(CHORUS)
Don’t you walk away
(No way)
take my words and walk away
(No wa-ay)
call another Muse to take my place
(Not with your lyre next to me)
Then I will always be inspiring!

(INSTRUMENTAL)

“Cradle me
(Cradle me!)

(CHORUS)
Don’t you walk away
(No way)
take my words and walk away
(I won’t walk away no)
Remember, no other Muse could ever take my place
(Who could take your place?)
Take these words, walk away, you inspire
(Ah you’re inspiring)
Take these words, walk away, you inspire
Take these words, walk away, you inspire
