Our group got its name from the concept that states that everything in existence is connected no matter how diverse they are. Having rather dissimilar musical influences that have resulted in a dynamic sound that still meets halfway as it appeals to a certain group of listeners almost everywhere. We have combined our love for rock, post-rock , electronic music and to some degree,soul due to Armi's vocal stylings. We're influenced by such artists as Jill Scott, Robert Plant, The Blue Nile,David Sylvian, Telefon Tel Aviv, Portishead,Halloween Alaska,Prefab Sprout and even movie soundtrack composers, to name only a few on our list of music heroes.
Since departing other bands, the we, the 4 members, individually have made a subconcious merge of a tangled-up, smacked down groove that has remained unnamed. "Uncategorizable" and enigmatic. Our band, Up Dharma Down, whom fans and industry insiders alike have described as Eryka Badu meets Zero 7 meets The Album Leaf, has become a Philippine household name with our debut album Fragmented. It was an immediate Tower Records/M1 chain bestseller and continues to enjoy brisk sales. Our second and latest album Bipolar won "Album of The Year " in the country's only Rock Awards this year. We also won "Artist of The Year 09" and Armi won"Vocalist of The Year 09". She has also won "best female vocalist' for the Malaysian Indie Awards. From the beginning in 05' we won In the Raw Award ,again at the same Rock Awards, then in 06 we grabbed, Best New Artist, several of our videos got nominated in MTV Awards Philippines. We also won "Favorite Indie band" in another music channel awards in 08.
We are also current brand ambassadors for Puma.
Having been identified by the prestigious BBC as the local band most likely to break into the international market, hopefully, we get to reach more markets outside of Asia.
