"The companion soundtrack offers a fistful of tunes by "Chiller" house band The Dead Elvi, spooky stuff from Cool Ghoul Zacherley (Satan's Playground), a sexy funk soul theme for Tiffany Shepis ('Damn!' UpDown), a French cabana song ('Francois UpDown') and the curiously-named Flamenco cut The Tranny Dance Untucked (UpDown). Also Included are a couple of weird clips from the film, making UnConventional pretty much exactly that in a nutshell." -Rue Morgue, March 2005 - Rue Morgue

Bio

UpDown's a band that's been WOWing crowds and club owners everywhere they play! So what’s so great about UpDown? Maybe it’s the fresh & funky soul-infused rhythms dropped by drummer Mike Schurr & percussionist Dave B. Or, the sexy, sensual, backup vocals delivered by the gorgeous ladies of UpDown, Niketta & Allison. Some say it's the sweet sound of Will Swank's saxophone. Perhaps it’s the fact that front-man Scotty plays a self-built 8-string guitar (you know, like Charlie Hunter). Or, maybe it's that while Scotty plays his 8-string he simultaneously manages to belt lead vocals rivaling R&B greats like Prince, Sly, & Otis Redding.

Or, it could just be that the band cuts into retro-classics by Louis Armstrong & Lou Reed and continually supplies stylish, inventive, & original pounding-grooves, chilled-out-jazz, four-on-the-floor rock and roll, roots reggae, hip-hop, R&B and just about anything to make you stand up and get down! They almost named the band 'Talent', but they thought that was a little…well...boring.

If you like greats like Medeski Martin & Wood, Dave Matthews Band, G-Love and the Special Sauce, Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, Soullive, etc. you will absolutely love UpDown. This group’s energy is infectious. Actually, it’s hugely propulsive; you'll be moved and never even know you left the ground.
