Upheld plays with The Wedding and Since October, records song for Quickstar Productions compilation CD

New York rock trio Upheld recently played with The Wedding and Since October, as well as contributed to an evangelism outreach series. Sisters Amanda Litz (vocals) and Emily Litz (guitars, vocals) and friend Ashley Kline (bass) make up the budding band.

Upheld heads to the studio December 26 to re-record their song “Can I Live” for the upcoming Quickstar Productions benefit compilation CD. “Can I Live” will be made available as a ring tone, serviced to college and internet radio stations, submitted to record labels and management firms and will be downloadable from iTunes, Rhapsody, Napster, Walmart.com, and Amazon.com.

Tackling tough issues like suicide, cutting and other struggles of today’s young generation, Upheld is not afraid to hit the hard issues head on. Upheld brings Jesus without being preachy and great faith-infused music without compromising quality. Though Emily and Amanda Litz wrote and performed songs for several years before, Upheld officially came together in March 2008.

Upheld garners musical influence from BarlowGirl, Skillet, Fireflight and Evanescence. Bringing a fresh, restoring hope to their generation, Upheld’s lyrics stem from their own struggles.

“Hundreds, maybe thousands, don't think they have a reason to continue living,” shares guitarist Emily Litz. “We want to write and play songs those people can relate to, share our testimonies so they know that they aren't alone in their struggles, see is a real, tangible example of what Christ can do and tell them about His love.”

Bio

Rising up and bringing hope to a generation, Upheld showcases gelling sisterly harmonies like BarlowGirl and rock licks rivaling the best boy rock bands. Featuring sisters Amanda Litz (vocals) and Emily Litz (guitar, vocals), and friend Ashley Kline (bass), Upheld hails from upstate New York. Though Emily and Amanda wrote and performed songs for several years before, Upheld officially came together in March 2008.

But don’t let their small amount of time together let you doubt their musical ability or lyrical maturity. Tackling tough issues like suicide, cutting and other struggles of today’s young generation, Upheld is not afraid to hit the hard issues head on.

Upheld’s mission is to share and spread the hope of Jesus Christ with their broken and damaged generation. “So many don't know of a way out, a way to keep going or the way to move forward,” shares guitarist Emily Litz. “Hundreds, maybe thousands, don't think they have a reason to continue living. We want to write and play songs those people can relate to, share our testimonies so they know that they aren't alone in their struggles, see us as a real, tangible example of what Christ can do and tell them about His love.”

Upheld garners musical influence from BarlowGirl, Skillet, Fireflight and Evanescence. Bringing a fresh, restoring hope to their generation, Upheld’s lyrics stem from their own struggles. When they sing, they sing sincerely about what they know. According to guitarist Emily Litz, their lyrics come from, “the trials we face, the struggles we go through, and the hope and Savior that gets us through them.”
