Upper West

Upper West is made up of two members: Doug Gleicher and Jesse Fink. Gleicher handles all writing and rapping while Fink does all of the production and chorus vocals. Major influences towards the groups sound range from Kanye West (as a producer and artist), Big Sean, Chiddy Bang, Mac Miller, and even Timeflies. A huge thing which puts Upper West in its own category is the message its music conveys. Now it is not your average rap group talking about drug dealing/using, partying, girls, etc. however its not exactly the next christian rap group either. Upper West talks about the refusal to grow up, enjoying time as a youth, dreams and aspirations of a teen, so on and so forth. This style of music we have come to call "hip-pop" because while we do incorporate hip-hop/rap as a major influence, the group has a distinguishable pop sound compared to any other up and coming rap artist. This honest message also gives our music validity and helps it stick with its listeners. Because at some point every person who listens to our music was, is, or will be a maturing teen and now we provide the soundtrack for that course of life.
