Upside Avenue

Cory M. Johnson is a musician, composer, sound engineer, producer and owner of Alchemy Sound Studios in Tallahassee, Florida. He graduated from the FSU School of Music in 2006 with a Bachelors in Commercial Music where his principal instrument was voice. He began playing shows as the front man for his first band, Sight Unseen, in Tallahassee, Florida in 2001 opening for bands such as Mile, Social Burn and New Address. Since then he has been a constant name on the local music scene with a multitude of groups including Proper Villains, Blue Manhattan and Black Jacket. Cory also performs in the Florida panhandle area as a solo artist under the name Upside Avenue.

During his time in college, Cory worked as a live sound engineer for both government and private entities with six years as an Audio System Specialist for the City of Tallahassee. It was after graduating from FSU and leaving the audio department at the City of Tallahassee that Cory opened his own recording studio, Alchemy Sound Studios, and production company, Alchemy Sound Productions. During his time as a private sound engineer and producer, Cory has worked with notable artists such as Seeking Sui, Aaron O’Rourke, King Cotton Blues Band, and A Big Goodbye

In the summer of 2014, Cory released his first solo project album under the name Upside Avenue. The album, Studio Sessions: Vol. 1, was a compilation of songs from different genres including acoustic, acoustic pop and alternative rock. The album will be followed by Studio Sessions: Vol. 2, which will complete the compilation of his recording of most of his original works written from 2003 to 2014.
