Up South

Carver County, Minnesota’s Up South has quickly made a name for themselves amongst the upper Midwest country music scene. Since their formation in 2014 the band has played numerous bars, clubs, festivals, fairs, and supported various charitable causes.

Lead singer Mike Villalva moved to Minnesota from Nashville, TN in 2013 and brought the Nashville bar of expectation with him. Members of Up South have written and performed with numerous award winning musicians on both local and national stages. Villalva has worked alongside George Strait in the movie sequel to “Pure Country” and appeared on the hit television show “Nashville”. These collaborations with some of the industry’s top performers have only reinforced their commitment to their craft and level of professionalism.

Recently, Up South released their debut single “Far Too Long” which has quickly gained airplay on multiple radio stations. Currently, the band is gearing to release their follow-up single, “Paradise”. Like it’s predecessor, “Paradise” is self-written and has already garnered radio airplay prior to its official release. Both songs were also included on Volumes 3 and 4 of the charitable CD, “Minnesota Country Salute.” This annual project in cooperation with BOB Country, Minnesota Military Families Foundation, and Tribute to the Troops has raised nearly $100,000 of which all profits go to support the families of those who have served and made the ultimate sacrifice.

In addition to their original music, Up South performs country music’s greatest hits from the ‘50’s through today. Armed with a full five piece band including pedal steel guitar, fiddle, and three part harmonies, Up South has gained considerable notice for their authentic country sound.
