"Compendium Vol.3 Issue 5"

Soulful blues rock has been around for a long, long time. On the basis of Uptight Dynamite's self-titled CD, it'll be around for a lot longer. The eight songs on this CD channel plenty of different styles from metal and punk to doo wop, but overall it keeps coming back to the blues. Uptight Dynamite know how to capture the feeling of a jam band while keeping everything short and simple. It sounds too mature and deep to be dubbed "radio friendly" but it's also instantly hummable. The passionate licks and powerful crooning of John Hebert (who also wrote most of the music and lyrics) takes the center stage, while Lenny Fatigati's bassmanship and Jonathan William's drumming clearly leaves its mark. We've heard all of this before. But rarely from the same band. And rarely done so well.
