Bio

Andy Smilnak: Guitar, Lead vocal

Andy Smilnak was raised in Berkley where he formed his first band “The Coachmen” in the late ‘60’s with influences of the folk/rock group “The Byrds.” After college and a successful teaching career, he formed another group called A.J. & the Smiletone’s in 1991. They have played rock and roll gigs for the American Legions and Elks Clubs, private corporate parties, to Rochester’s street fair and Romeo’s Peach Festival.

The band “Urban Prairie” has allowed Smilnak the chance to write music to an upscale sound but also play the music of others in the unique “Urban Prairie” style.

Alan Joseph: Bass Guitar, vocals

A lifelong Berklyite, Alan was involved in several bands as a youth including Astigafa and Fox Run.

After raising a family, Alan got back to music through his church, where he still plays weekly. An involvement with Low Down Studios has led to four CD's being released with Senor Bones and Keister. "Urban Prairie" he said "explores another facet of music much more appealing to a wide audience."

Len Gervasi: Bass guitar, vocals

James White: Lead guitar, vocals

James white was made in Detroit and started playing guitar at age 11 when The Beatles took the U.S. by storm.

He has been part of various gospel groups in metro Detroit in addition to a pit orchestra musician for shows such as Hair, Tommy, Grease, Footloose, Sweet Charity, and many others. Urban Prairie is White’s chance to play the music he has wanted to play for his entire musical career
