UrbanProdigy is the musical creation of the husband & wife songwriting/production team of Eric & Sydney Etter. Natives of Los Angeles, California, they credit the diverse LA musical scene with shaping their diverse musical taste and sound. They have been married for nearly 20 years, and are the proud parents of a son, Isaac.
As artists, producers and or executives, projects produced by the the duo either individually or collectively have earned them industry recognition through their work with the McDonalds Gospelfest, The National Black Theater Festival, The American Folk Ballet, and the ASCAP Foundation Disney Musical Theatre Workshop. Directed by Academy Award-winning composer/lyricist Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Prince of Egypt, Godspell, Pippin, Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame), the workshop is part of an ongoing series of workshops sponsored by The ASCAP Foundation to nurture new American musicals. They also have numerous radio and television projects to their credit.
Eric & Sydney have had musical collaborations with a number of talented musicians and artist including Harold Wheeler, (Dreamgirls, Dancing with the Stars) Thom Sharp(When Harry Met Sally, City Slickers), Rita Coolidge, Jennifer Holiday(Dreamgirls, Ally McBeal), Loretta Devine (Dreamgirls, Waiting To Exhale, Boston Public), and the late Yolanda King.
The duo have performed and written songs for various artists and musical theater productions in LA and NY in addition to their own music production endeavors as recording artist in their own right.
Creating music is their passion and that is evident in the music this duo has created thus far, and will continue to create in the future.
