Bio
Ursa Miner began in the summer months of 2008 and quickly grew from vocalist/ guitarist Jonathan Beleshko, guitarist/ multi-instrumentalist Forest Mackay, and drummer Corin Roddick to include Brad Wedekind on bass, and Calvin McElroy on keys and guitar. The five-piece ensemble crafted their self-titled, self-recorded/mixed EP release for January 30th of 2009 (available on iTunes and CD Baby) and are now entering into the studio to begin work on their first full-length album.
Ursa Miner presents a primarily post-rock sound with dashes of dream pop/ shoegaze, ambient, and Math rock to spice things up. Mackay and McElroy employ guitars, electronics, and less familiar instruments to complement the solid frame of Roddick's drumming and Wedekind's tight bass lines. Beleshko directs the sound with his active stage-presence, pitch-perfect vocals and guitar riffs to create a performance that takes us through beautiful, melodic swells to triumphant waves of climactic auditory rapture.
