"U SAY USA: The Sound of Empire Crumbling (Album Review)"

U SAY USA’s tracks weave in and out of Dream-pop, folk and 60's psychedelia. The songs are short, the sound anthemic, and the ambition obvious.

In their brand of surfcana you can hear the polemics of Dylan, the emotive wah of the Pixies, and the floor stompin’ road anthems of the Band. - Dan Gill, BushwickBK

"U SAY USA: A happy go lucky group of troubadours"

"Shots flowed as U SAY USA took the stage. A happy go lucky group of troubadours. U say usa is Steven Nelson (vox, guitar, harp) Leif Nelson (drums) Mike Ishaya (bass). Steve also rocked the harmonica during the show. Their set was energetic and punchy. They went well with the whiskey that was forced upon me." - Zac Clark, Rocker Tycoon

""Bushwick Music Video: U SAY USA""

""Went to Brazil,” is wonderfully straight forward."

"U SAY USA is a pretty straight-forward rock band, which is almost as rare in New York as a country act. Their guitars are standard rock guitars, rhythm and lead, with just a little bit of punch behind them instead of being distorted into a swampy mess. No synths, no reverb, just the jerky stop-start of indie rock structure.

The video for “Went to Brazil,” like the song, is wonderfully straight forward. A simple video of the band playing in the studio, an engineer posted at his computer to record things, some speedily changed angles. Some filtering of the colors shows a subtle artistic leaning without falling into cliches. Attempts to impress the listener with statements of cleverness are refreshingly absent." - BushwickBK.com

""A Dark View as McKibbin Fair Shines Again""

" U SAY USA turns Americana inside-out".... "U SAY USA’s arrival lures many locals out onto window ledges, onto stoops, the timid crowd inching ever forward, toes tapping, hips swiveling, as lead singer Steve Nelson showcases an Americana that speaks as much of the inner city as of open highways, as much of existential crisis as wasted youth; U SAY USA turns Americana inside-out and leaves it for us to feed from the carcass." - BushwickBK.com

Bio

U SAY USA is a psychedelic rock band from Brooklyn, NY.

The band has been gigging around New York City since their inception within the basements of the McKibbin Lofts in 2009. They recently organized a successful four-date residency at Trash Bar in May 2011.

They have released multiple live recordings, videos, and a debut EP, "The Greatest Recession (I've Ever Been To)," which is available on all major music download services (released October, 2010). The New York Post named one of the EP's songs among the "200 best songs of 2010," dubbing U SAY USA, "Bushwick's next big thing."

The band is currently planning their Summer 2011 tour. They will be playing the Northside Festival (June 19th at Public Assembly) and have dates in Philadelphia, New Jersey, and all over NYC.
