Bio
Nationally acclaimed NYC troupe Vadalna Dance Company is reborn in Boston with new dancers, a new vision, and a new full-length theatrical production: Menagerie. In the spirit of the Sanskrit word for "change" which lends them their name, Vadalna walks a continually shifting line between contrasting elements, melding Middle Eastern movement and rhythms with hip-hop and beats of the electronic underground, the ancient with the ultra-modern, the intensely personal with the universal and archetypal. The result is something neither one extreme nor the other, but both, and unique. Vadalna's constant evolution is reflected in Menagerie, in which the self journeys through the light and shadow of the deepest psyche to become a creature more familiar than you think.
