Bio

VAINGLORIOUS has been praised as a breath of fresh air in a city steeped in rock and roll tradition. The band’s unexpected southern tinged, retro feel has been giving "new school rock" in New York City a much needed adrenaline kick! Recently described as “The Black Crowes knife fighting with Jet at a party being thrown by Aerosmith”, the band exemplifies professional songwriting skill and breakneck showmanship. Finely crafted, blues based anthems merge with a rock and roll attitude creating a thing of stunning, yet organic, beauty.
The brash guitar work of Tommy Dark is electrifying; his instrument screams! Tommy has been regarded as “a guitarist to look for in 2005” by myriad print sources and was drafted as a temporary replacement guitarist for Joan Jett in 2004. Supported by the rhythm section of NYC Bass League alumnus Mark Zap and veteran drummer Glenn Sorino, Vainglorious throbs with primal energy and a slamming backbeat. These qualities can only originate from two such groove conscious players. Layered with the soulful yet powerful voice of George Grant (who’s uncle sang with legendary R&B group Ray, Goodman and Brown), the combination is lethal. George Grant’s vocals range from a silky soft croon to a near-nuclear swagger and his onstage antics are not to be missed.
Currently preparing a self-titled full CD for the Summer of 2005, the band has subsequently been fine-tuning their live assault with gigs across the tri-state area, stunning audiences as they go!
