The slow burner though is Valdimar. Their line-up is typically unwieldy: brass and more members than could fit on the tiny stage of Glaumbar. The Americana roots are clear, and it's possible to trace a line to Bon Iver, but the songs are constructed with a breath-in/breath-out sinuousness that's totally unfamiliar. As one crescendo dissipates, the next one arrives unexpectedly. A terrific band. - Mojo

Bio
The band Valdimar vas formed in 2009 by two long time friends from Keflavik Iceland. Starting out as a duo the band quickly expanded and is now counting six fulltime members plus a 3-4 people brass section. Their debut album Undraland was released in 2010 and was widely celebrated both by critics and the public. Four singles from the album made it to the top ten charts and their biggest hit so far, Yfirgefinn, was one of the most played songs of 2011. The music builds up from being soft and intimate to an exciting hair-raising, heart-stirring energy often with all ten members on stage playing full blast, making their live performances an unforgettable experience. The genre can be described as an electro indie mix with roots in Americana, even though fans find defining the genre of Valdimar simply irrelevant.
