Bio

Valencourt (aka Jeff Lavender) is a solo indie/acoustic act based out of Providence, RI. Often compared to Elliott Smith, City & Colour, Death Cab For Cutie, Into It. Over. It., Valencourt started as a solo act with the intention of involving as many friends and musicians as possible along the way. Although its roots stem back to early 2006, it wasn't until 2011 that the act began to take off and make a name for itself in the Providence area. 2011 saw Valencourt's EP "In Plain English", and come July 23, 2013 Valencourt will release it's full-length debut "Quiet Siren".
A 10-track album, "Quiet Siren" features Lavender's wife on vocals for some songs, Taking Back Sunday's Fred Mascherino provides some atmospheric lead guitar and backing vocals on "Digging Up The Devil", The Coming Weak's Tim White lends his vocals to "Real Fine Mess", and Michael Abiuso (Kiss Kiss, The Venetia Fair, The Gay Blades) plays some rhodes and piano on a couple of tracks, in addition to mixing and mastering the album via his SwitchBitch Records/Studios.

Valencourt performed at last year's (2012) Vans Warped Tour on the tours first ever Acoustic Basement Stage, which featured several other acoustic acts and stripped down versions of bands sets. Other acts on the stage included Yellowcard, Anthony Raneri (Bayside), Geoff Rickly (Thursday), and Vinnie Caruana (I Am The Avalanche).

The material on the album is basically a summary of the past 4 years of Lavenders life; from topics such as love, death, maintaining friendships, the struggle to retain optimism, fear of new American culture, and apocalyptic obsessions - just to name a few. The album closes with the song Julian, a song written for Lavenders son, and decidedly the best possible way to conclude the album.

"Quiet Siren" will be available digitally via all major digital retail outlets on July 23, 2013, and select Newbury Comics locations late summer 2013.
