I am a huge fan of Dierks Bentley and I have known him since 2003. At his 2005 CMA MUSIC FEST Fan Club Party, I entered my song in the parody song contest called "LOT OF LOSIN' LEFT TO DO" and I won! At the meet and greet, I told Dierks: “I was your opening act! I won the song contest!”
Dierks read the lyrics and actually started singing when he got to “Absent-minded.”
Dierks’ reaction was: “Oh my Gosh! It’s really well-written, sweetheart! Oh my Gosh! This is so good, Valerie. You’re a good writer, you really are!”
Dierks signed my lyric sheet for me too, and wrote, "Good Song."
At the 2006 party, I performed my new parody, "STUCK AT NUMBER TWO." Dierks was backstage and heard the wild crowd reaction. He said that he couldn't believe it.
I have been invited back to perform next year (June 2007) and the new song is ready!
