Most superheroes wear a perfectly tailored suit, work regular business hours at a high profile job and have an unexpected alter ego, much like Valerie Gurka. Although under her business attire she may not hide a spandex body suit, she does have a talent many mortals can only dream of having. Valerie is a contemporary pop/disco artist who released her debut CD in March this year.

VALERIE GURKA is a music producer, songwriter and live music performer. After performing with several cover bands in New York City, Gurka pre-released her retro-style original debut demo album Planet Girl in 2008 which resulted in a full-page feature in the New York Resident and the Hamptons Resident magazines. She officially released the album on iTunes and Amazon.com in 2009.
Song lyrics give references to love, self-actualization and heartbreak. Each song is layered with rich and unique harmonies that emphasize passion. There is often a buildup from start to finish, materialized by the breakdown of instruments and vocals. Music is catchy, emphatic and danceable.
