Valerie Tichacek

St. Louis based jazz vocalist and winner of 2002 Downbeat Award for Outstanding Jazz Performance.  Combines the uniquely beautiful music of Brazil with the swing and swagger of American jazz for an appealing sound that your guests will enjoy during food, drinks, and conversation.

Vocalist, arranger and band-leader Valerie Tichacek has been an active part of the St. Louis Jazz scene for over a decade. She frequently performs in clubs, festivals, parties and corporate events. Her recordings, featuring some of St. Louis’ best Jazz musicians, can be heard locally on WSIE-FM, WEW-AM, KMOX-AM and KDHX-FM radio. Valerie was honored in 2002 by Downbeat Magazine with the "Outstanding Performance by a Jazz Vocalist" award.

Valerie's journey in the music world began in St. Louis as the daughter of Jazz organist and Disc Jockey "Glen Davis", and her mother made a career as an organ and piano teacher and played Lead Cornet in The St. Louis Salvation Army Corp Band. Valerie traveled to the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and New York City to study with renowned Jazz vocalists and recording artists Sheila Jordan and Roseanna Vitro. In 2002 she traveled to Rio de Janeiro in pursuit of a deeper understanding of the cultural forces shaping Brazilian music.
