BandAmericanaFolk

Val Esway uses her spine tingling vocals to spin torch tales, hillbilly lullabies, murder ballads and lowdown blues, for a sound she likes to call Ameri…kinda.

Biography

After years spent winning folks over with the ethereal soundscapes of Ramona the Pest and the twang inspired stylings of Loretta Lynch, Val Esway continues her explorations of love, liquor & loss with her second El Mirage release, "Pretend to Believe".

This full length album showcases Val's spine-tingling vocals with the power of a full band, and is chock full of more bitter lullabies, murder ballads & twangy torch ballads, for a sound she likes to call Ameri…kinda.

Whether she’s singing sweet sounding tales of liquor and despair or toe tapping ditties of revenge and loss, Val Esway will surely disarm you with her soulful siren sounds.

Lyrics

Someone I used to Know

Written By: Valerie Esway

By the time I get to Fresno
there'll be nothing more for me to think
I'll be wondering where the time went
and I'll have to stop and have a drink

By the time I get to Bakersfield
I'll be so wired that it won't seem real
By the time I lay down my head
you'll be someone that I can forget

By the time you open up your eyes
won't be wondering if it's a surprise
I'll be far away and without fear
and the road ahead will be so clear

By the time you lay down your head
I'll be dreaming in a different bed
By the time I get to Mexico
You'll be just someone that I used to know

By the time that you close your eyes
won't be wondering if it's a surprise
I'll be far away and without fear
and the road ahead will be so clear

By the time you lay down your head
I'll be dreaming in a different bed
By the time I get to Mexico
you'll be just someone that I used to know

Think of Me

Written By: Valerie Esway

Do you ever think of me
And if you do, what do you see?
Are all your memories bittersweet,
Do you ever think of me?

Do you ever miss me too
And wonder if I'm missing you?
I think somehow you know I do
If you ever think of me

Wonder what you keep of me
What lies inside your memory,
That scarlet sky that lit the sea
The secrets that won't let you be

Do you ever lose your strength
Find yourself calling my name
Wonder if I feel the same
Do you ever think of me?

Is there room for me some place
Or did you finally erase
That scarlet sky that lit the sea
The secrets that won't let you be

Do you ever feel this ache
Wonder if your heart can take
One more little leap of faith,
Do you ever think of me?
