Valkyrien Allstars

Valkyrien Allstars is a folk-music group originally consisting of three norwegian youths in their early twenties (Tuva Livsdatter Syvertsen, Erik Sollid and Ola Hilmen). They are all from the eastern part of Norway and are playing the norwegian national instrument The Hardangerfiddle.Tuva, the only girl in the group, is also featuring as their lead vocal. Valkyrien Allstars has excisted since 2002, but they have been practicing as musicians from they were youngsters.

Their music is based on traditional norwegian tunes, but they have given the sound a new dimension and created pieces of music that gives them a modern and more international sound. They enjoy experimenting with music from other categories and cultures. In this way they succeed in bringing folk-music further ahead and can without doubt be reckoned as avant-gard in their field. The vocal gives it all a further dimension and their way of singing is also much based on original singing tradition i Norway.

The Valkyrien Allstars has been awarded the first GRAPPA price for newcomers i n 2006. This gave them the opportunity to give out their first cd-recording and VA was nominated for the norwegian record-award "Spellemannprisen" in 2007 for the best newcomers of that year. In addition to several concerts and performances for official and private organizers, they were voted all the way through and into the very final of the Norwegian Broadcasting/ NRKs finale of "Kjempesjansen - a huge competition for talented young musicians. In september 2008 "Folkelarm" awarded them "The Folk Music Artist of the Year". They will release their 2nd album this summer.

It is often said that music is a live activity that should be seen performed and not only listened to. The truth of this assertion is very much proven when attending a concert with the Valkyrien Allstars. Music has no boarder or age - only the simplicity of an open mind. And as they like to express it themselves: "The music isn't meant to be nice and pretty, but should give you a kick deep inside.

The band also consists of Magnus Larsen on double bass and Martin Langlie on drums. They are both established musicians from other famous norwegian bands and now they contribute in making the Valkyrien Allstars a complete artist.
