Bio

Originally from Angola, Africa, Valu David is the second of 6 children. He began his musical career in Angola at the age of 12, singing at youth festivals, and church choruses. In 2000, he migrated to Canada completing his OSSD at Toronto's George Harvey Collegiate in 2001. Six years later, he graduated from Seneca College's Independent Music Production program, fulfilling one of the greatest desires of his career: to become a music a engineer. Not long after finishing college he became member of SOCAN, the Canadian Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers. Valu David is a singer, composer, songwriter and producer, he sings in English, Portuguese, Spanish, French and in Some Angolan dialects such as Kimbundo, Humbundo, and Kikongo.
His musical influences are many, varying from Bob Marley to Sting, Eagles and many others, not forgetting his native Africans, Bonga and "the queen of naked feet," Cesaria Evora. These artists have had an important influence on the spirit of Valu David's music. The uniqueness, melodies, messages and quality of his music distinguishes his work from others. He sings his heart, telling stories of the past, present and future speaking about harmony and compassion between men, arguing against global warming, and discrimination.
He also sings about love and fun, bringing together all in one, problems, wonders and passions of humankind.
His recent album � Valu David� features Toronto musicians such as flautist Jeff Kearns, drummer Roger Travassos, and guitar and bass player Ljubo Groscka. An amazing performer and interpreter, with a very strong voice and incredible stage presence, this artist has performed at distinguished venues and festivals in Canada including the Toronto Roots Festival (2006 edition), the Halton Museum (2003) and Ottawa Festival of Nations (2003). He has also appeared in shows among the Brazillian, Portuguese and Angolan communities in Canada.
Now a well-seasoned veteran, Valu David has also appeared on the CIRV FM radio talent show, the CBC /Radio Canada show in French, and Omni News Show in Portuguese. Valu David is part of Lets Find a Way project by Robin Tomlin, a song based project to raise awareness in fighting HIV around the world.
