Bio

VALVETONIC formed in 1994 after Tim Cowle phoned Sean Ryan (or was it the other way round)? and said..."Do you fancy forming a band then?"... "I was gonna ask YOU that"...Came the reply,..."And YES I do"... From then on much time was spent in various lethal rehearsal rooms and Tim's lounge. While spinning flowersugar in the small hours and coming up with some half decent tunes they realised they had an intriguing musical chemistry, what with Sean's melancholy being offset by Tim's , erm...melancholy. They continued to develop their sound and in time (quite a bit actually) it caught the attention of a certain bassist, (name of Geriant Thomas), Geraint (hewn from 100 bands and with the hair to prove it) got turned on and in turn turned up for the next 10 years or so writing, rehearsing and recording with them. After a few false starts and the odd ending, (everyone has left at one time or another) it's come to this, where Tim's opiate syrup guitar chops mix with Geriant's dub-metal bass and Sean's heart drenched vocals. Add to this new boy Simon Collins on drums slugging it out for keeps and you've got the full fat cirrhosian sound of VALVETONIC... Influences; King Crimson, Scott Walker, Sonic Youth, The Persuaders, Led Zep, The Doors, Rear Window, The Ramones, Radiohead, David Essex, Pink Floyd, Kate Bush, Francoise Hardy, Tsai Chin, The Railway Children (film) etc etc
We are what we are, not what we're pretending to be.
