Bio

Beyond the voice there is a man with a heart for God with passion and purpose. He has been called to minister through song and his name is Van Artis. He is a native of Washington D.C, and he currently lives in Dallas, TX as a professional gospel recording artist. Singing has always been his first love and for many years Van has spent his time sharpening his craft, by appearing on several projects and singing background live and in studio for various artists such as Gaye Arbuckle, and Shannon Wright of Baltimore MD. The awakening of almost dying by renal failure opened Vans eyes and he found strength in God through the encouragement of gospel music. He had already given his life to Jesus at an early age, but the test of faith gave him motivation to live. He received a kidney transplant in October 2005 from his mother, and since that day he made a vow to sing the music that inspired him. Today he is an accomplished singer/songwriter and he was voted Youth Soloist of the year by The Texas Gospel Music Excellence Awards in 2007 and nominated for Male vocalist of the year for 2008. Van has shared the mic with many local and national gospel artists, and he continues to strive for excellence in his career. He is an active member of The Texas Gospel Announcers Guild and the NKF and he also attends The Potters House. Often people have come to know Van as a humble guy on and off stage, and most are shocked by his vocal ability as he ministers. Sincerely the music that he creates is to reach those who are lost, because his heart is for those who are in need. Van has chosen to pursue a career in the gospel music industry and is well aware of the requirements that need to be met in order to achieve this goal. Van has arranged and produced written and performed 100% of his latest album entitled 360 (which means full circle), and this album is a testimony of his heart, his pain, and his healing. He is fully capable of operating in 16-24 track studios digital or analog he has had vocal training from MCC a college for the arts. Proven to show versatility in style and in tone, he is considered a Baritone with the ability to achieve first tenor notes. His major influences are Kirk, Kim Burrell, Dorinda, Karen, Daryl Coley, Stevie, Brandy and Musiq. His style varies depending on the song, but truly he is a worshiper at heart. The power is in the message and not just in the melody so take a listen there is much to be heard from Van Artis.
