BandRockAlternative

"...kick-arse songwriting, sick riffage, and some of the slickest, fattest production to emerge from the Oz in years. This is a startling debut. Mature & powerful, Vanden have all the chops, & all the hooks. It wouldn't surprise me one iota if they are the next big thing."-Nick Snelling-Beat Magazine

Biography

Vanden
1. A young female artist, from Brett Easton Ellis’ best selling novel and screenplay, ‘American Psycho’.
2. A 5 piece Melbourne rock band

While Vanden the character, only plays a fleeting role in the novel, the band plan on doing the exact opposite.
Featuring members from previous Melbourne rock bands, Vanden are no strangers to the Australian Music Scene, and know all too well the trappings and pitfalls of the music industry. Having previous bands destroyed by lineup changes, taking time to get this right was an important motivator for the band. The band is 100% committed to becoming a big success overseas.
Fronted by lead singer, James Brown, VANDEN spent over 2 years writing and hit the decks to record the debut release with acclaimed producer, Forrester Savell (Karnivool, Full Scale, Helmet) in a private Melbourne studio in October 2005. VANDEN emerged 6 months later with 11 tracks that are simply awesome !
The hard-edged, driving rock, laced with big, memorable chorus hooks has gained the band immediate industry recognition down under. VANDEN are now working on some local and overseas prospects for the release of the tracks on a grand scale, including key sync deals.
VANDEN are also taking this new sound to the streets to give you a taste of things to come. With shows being confirmed across the country, the remainder of 2006 will be a busy time for the band at home, and an even busier time when VANDEN attacks US shores throughout 2007 and beyond !

Lyrics

THE RIVER

Written By: VANDEN

(V1)
You broke down in the back of my car sounds, scared caught you in the river drowning.

Wake up, take hold
Back from death felt numb

Slow it down with a vision of what you saw
Lungs hurt from the silent screaming

Black sun hold on
Why aren’t you in here?

(Pre Chorus)
Break down, faint sounds
No care for what you hold,
Break down, faint sounds
No time for comment.

(Chorus)
This place you love, no time for it
Now the next step is to climb.

(V2)
Woke up from a dream I nearly choked, on a breath I forgot to take.

Last chance, to speak
The words to keep me here

Spoke up about the feelings that broke me down, last chance was the final calling.

Wake up, need help
Why aren’t you in here?

(Pre Chorus)
Break down, faint sounds
No care for what you hold,
Break down, faint sounds
No time for comment,

(Chorus)
This place you love, no time for it
Now the next step is to climb.
(Bridge) P1
Heard you calling, but where was I, I was listening, but you didn’t give me a chance.

Wasn’t busy, I swear I would have been there but, you just hung up and

(Bridge) P2
Thoughts don’t make sense, take it all in
The point of it, your wasted now again x3

I’m stuck inside this apathy, just wanted to be free, free…

(Pre Chorus)
Break down, faint sounds
No care for what you hold,
Break down, faint sounds
No time for comment,

(Chorus)
This place you love, no time for it
Now the next step is to climb.

(Pre Chorus)
Break down, faint sounds
No care for what you hold,
Break down, faint sounds
No time for comment,

(Chorus)
This place you love, no time for it
Now the next step is to climb.

BREATHE

Written By: VANDEN

(V1)
Couldn’t sleep last,
Because I’m not quite sure, if it worked,
But I don’t think it sounded rite
Should I take this forward?
If I’m not quite sure, distraught
Well I guess there a reason

Why….

(Chorus)
Woh-oh, Woh-oh
Don’t change for it
Woh-oh, Woh-oh
Taking it in
Woh-oh, Woh-oh
Don’t change for it
Now it’s the end

(V2)
Should I take your advice?
And start over again!
It hurts will it be worth it end?
There’s a pattern lets go.
No stop and think again
What’s worse no it won’t be worth it in the

End…..

(Chorus)
Woh-oh, Woh-oh
Don’t change for it
Woh-oh, Woh-oh
Taking it in
Woh-oh, Woh-oh
Don’t change for it
Now it’s the end

(Bridge)
Breathe, breathe
Breathe out your lungs and focus on life
Now just, breathe, breathe
And take the time wake up and see
Breathe, breathe
Stop listening out for advice from know one.

(Chorus)
Woh-oh, Woh-oh
Don’t change for it
Woh-oh, Woh-oh
Taking it in
Woh-oh, Woh-oh
Don’t change for it
Woh-oh, Woh-oh
Taking it in
Woh-oh, Woh-oh
Woh-oh, Woh-oh
Now it’s the end

IS THIS THE ENDING ?

Written By: VANDEN

(V1)
I woke up from this dream, heard the strangest things, that I couldn’t see but my heart keeps stopping’, thinking of a way to get out of this hole that I’m in.

Hurts in my heart when I think of the things I could have done, but it’s not too late if I start now, I need to change the way I feel about these things

(Pre Chorus)
Take a turn tonight, wanted much more out of life, (but you) just sat back hoping things
Will take a turn to the right, but all just sinking, (you’re) ready to start, yeah!!

(Chorus)
I can’t stand watching the days go by.
Is this the ending, we’re facing?
I can’t stand watching this anymore!
Last time I fake it, I moving forward.

(V2)
Spoke up ‘bout that dream, said the strangest things, that you couldn’t hear, but your face kept stopping, thinking of a way to get out of this room that your in.

Sticks to my heart when I think of the things I should have done, but it’s not too late if I start now, I need to change the way I feel about these games.

(Bridge P1)
Take me from the truth of it
Take me from below what’s real
That’s not my face, I am not real
I can not fake the end of it
Take me from the truth of it
Take me from below what’s real
That’s not my face, I am not real
I can not fake the end of it
Take me from the truth of it
Take me from below what’s real
That’s not my face, I am not real

Am not real……

I’m not real……

(Chorus)
I can’t stand watching the days go by.
Is this the ending, we’re facing?
I can’t stand watching this anymore!
Last time I fake it, I moving forward.
