Vander Lee is one of the best recent discoveries of new MPB. The Mineiro brings in his music a lyrical versatility that speaks of our day-today moments in the human experience: Our loves, playing soccer, taking the bus, are translated urban moments in a unique language full of wisdom. With over twenty years on the stage, Vander Lee released his first CD in 1997, called `Vanderly'. In 1999 he released ` No Balanço do Balaio ' for the label Kuarup and began a successful tour national for that CD, which catapulted the artist into the realm of public recognition and among other artists who had covered/interpreted his compositions in their work, such as Rita Ribeiro, Gal Costa, Emilinha Borba, among other famous artists.
His third CD `Ao Vivo’ was released in 2003 through Indie Records, which already had recorded his songs covered by other artists, in addition to the well known `Românticos' and `Contra o Tempo'.
In 2005 he released ‘Naquele Verbo Agora’ through Indie Records and in 2006 recorded his first live CD and DVD in Belo Horizonte at the renowned Palácio das Artes and through this work was nominated for the TIM Music Award in the category of Pop Music: Best Singer and Best Album.
In 2007 Vander Lee did a tour of Brazil with the album ‘Pensei que fosse o céu’and secured the TIM Award for Best Album in Pop Music with the aforementioned album. Later during the year of 2007, he released his DVD ‘Entre’ ‘Acústico’ with the special participation of known Mineiro artists, as Maurício Tizumba and Chico Amaral.
In 2008 the singer and composer continues on a national tour in support of his album ‘Pensei que fosse o céu’ and was selected by The music forum from MG to do an international concert in Turin (Italy), participating in the project “ Minas Gerais in Piemonte – Italy”. In January of 2009 Vander Lee participated in MPB Petrobras project, doing a North and Northeast tour in Brazil.
In march of 2009 Vander Lee performed at the well-known SXSW Festival – South by Southwest in Austin, Texas (USA), he was selected along with other four artists from Minas Gerais. Vander Lee also did some concerts at ‘Cantorias de Mayo’ Festival in Holguin, Cuba. In the end of may he released his new album, the CD ‘Faro’. Produced by Marcelo Sussekind, the album is slightly pop and has 12 tracks (10 unpublished) that are from different music genres, from ‘baião’ to reggae, samba to folk, without forgetting the romantic ballads that were always part of Vander Lee’s repertoire. A national tour to release the album ‘Faro’ did concerts in the major Brazilian capitals like Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Salvador, Recife and will go through several other cities.
