Bio
Van Diemen formed in the middle of 2010 and although relatively new to the Brisbane music scene, the members that make up this grunge rock band are well rehearsed when is comes to live music.
Lead man James Bird and guitarist Liam Walter rocked numerous Brisbane venues during the 2000’s in their energetic grunge/metal band Solda. While around the same time brothers Rob Crook (Bassist) and drummer Rowan Crook formed rock band Serene Said, who appeared frequently on the valley music circuit for 3+ years.
Since then Birdy has been playing solo shows and expanding his musical horizons in blues band Sliders and Rob has cut his teeth with intricate hard rock group Manual and more recently had success with rock/pop four-piece J-Pan Fan.
These four long-term mates have grown up on a heavy dose of 90’s grunge rock tunes and Van Diemen’s songs stem from this mutual love of such bands as Alice in Chains, Nirvana and Faith No More with a blended fresh edge that pays homage to the likes of Karnivool and Cog.
Collectively the lads have enjoyed playing at The Zoo, X&Y Bar, Ric’s, The Powerhouse, Step Inn and The Globe among others and are looking forward to continuing the tradition in 2011 with Van Diemen.
