"The CDs first official review"

"Pretty darn good cd, some of the vocals remind me a little bit of Big Dave MacLean. Great keyboard player, very good guitarist(s), solid drumming and bass. Also some good background harmonic vocals which is a sadly lacking thing with so many "blues" bands today.. Some interesting and catchy lyrics as well as melodies too. Generally a good vibe with this CD, and I am a pretty tough critic. It slips nicely from hardcore blues, to Louisiana gumbo to simple roots tunes to contemporary blues and back with a really poignant finishing ballad. There are some very clever transitions of rhythm as well as modulations in style on many of the tunes.. the pro's are clearly talkin' here."

Bio

the down low,

Vernon Wills is an international platinum recording artist, influenced early by meetings in New York city with BB King, Albert King, Muddy Waters, T-Bone Walker and Hubert Sumlin.

Vernon grew up an army brat, born in Calgary, Alberta. His first instrument was a Kent Bass he bought himself at the age of 13 to play with his friends the Mystics in Nova Scotia.
Upon returning to Calgary, Vernon joined the Midnight Skulkers. The Skulkers, inspired by the blusier influence from the British invasion, set off playing gigs across Alberta and Vernon was noticed by Willie and the Walkers. Based in Edmonton, they asked him to join them. Shortly after, the Walkers moved to New York to pursue their musical endeavours.

Moving to New York brought the opportunity to meet the legends up close and personal and blues became the underlying passion and tour de force for Vernon. The first time he heard Robert Johnson, the deal was sealed, and he knew he would become a guitarist.

Vernon played with Chuck Berry and toured with many major recording acts since the late 60’s. As pop culture consumed the globe, blues venues shrank and Vernon was in and out of several pop groups. Vernon continued to write as a professional songwriter, as well as engineer and produce other artists, often working as a studio musician and vocalist.

A pre-Katrina trip to New Orleans during a brief hiatus from the industry inspired an honest wide-ranging sound that comes across in A Little Taste. V and the Wholly Cats were born. The second CD is set to be released in early 2010.

Performing an acoustic set as a single or leader of a 7 piece band, Vernon delivers the sound and passion that everyone relates and grooves to.
