Vanessa is a native from Tucson, Arizona and grew up among the rich colored mountains and canyons that surround it. Since childhood, she was fascinated by the teachings of Native American Indians at the San Javier Mission festivals and was impacted by the spirituality of the powerful ceremonial dancers.

Vanessa began singing and songwriting as a child and was inspired by the great artists of the 70’s. She auditioned and performed for musicals, choirs and solo contests throughout her childhood and throughout high school - an arts school – where she was the only freshman accepted in a senior jazz group. Vanessa secured many solo positions and earned herself a full
scholarship to Northern Arizona University’s music school.

Instead of pursuing her first love - music - Vanessa attended the University
of Arizona and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration
and Marketing. She pursued a “safer” career in business, predominantly medical sales. But while her education took her to great levels, music
remained in her soul, so in 2001, she returned to her passion of recording and performing and over the next 7 years wrote over 100 songs.

Her first album, Time, sold over 1000 copies and gained local and regional exposure. Time included original material written and produced by Vanessa
and musician Josh Motley.

Her second album, Touch My Soul, brought Vanessa an enormous amount of exposure, giving her credits in opening for bands such as Evanescence, Lit and Juice Newton. The album release party in November in 2003
brought in over 1000 fans, and over 4000 copies of Touch My Soul were
sold at various events in Arizona. Working on her own, Vanessa received
airplay on “The Zone Radio,” made numerous appearances on Arizona’s news channels, secured two covers with Arizona-based magazines, and received numerous reviews in newspaper and web outlets.

Continuing in medical sales but not leaving MUSIC behind, Vanessa relocated to Los Angeles in 2004
in hopes of taking her music to the next level, and her dream to work with the best musicians, and producers in the world. AND SHE DID IT. Here Vanessa collaborated on a project produced by Mikal Blue (producer for Colbie Caillet, Augustana, One Republic, Jason Reeves, Five For Fighting, and even was the first to work with Carrie Underwood, and many others) and Curt Schneider (Five For Fighting), which included one of the best guitarist Andrew Williams and Stings live drummer, also, one of the best drummers, Josh Freeze. “Dream Giver” was one song that came out of the collaboration, which went on to win over 20 national and international awards as well as be in the running for placement for TV and Film. Other songs completed include “Vulnerable,” “Goin’
For A Ride,” “Plays,” “Today” and “Anyway.”

In 2006, Vanessa started working with 3 time Tony Award-winning producer, Doug Besterman, David Wollenberger (Count To Ten, Freshman Show), and Grammy-nominated Jay Weigel (Terrence Blanchard, Lera Auerbach, REM). With these producers she completed several
tracks including the songs “One More,” “Angel,” “This One” and “Take Me Home.”

A true singer/songwriter, Vanessa has the ability to write about innumerable
topics and can easily expand instrumental tracks created by musicians. She has the uncanny ability to sell herself to an audience and has had over 100,000 downloads. In addition to her perfect pitch, she has a natural ability to harmonize and possesses a 4-octave range. Vanessa sings to those audiences who are
looking for songs with meaningful lyrics they can relate to, and sets those
lyrics against a backdrop of luscious, sultry melodies.

Dream Giver

Dream Giver
Music and lyrics written by Vanessa Florez

It doesn’t matter what you do for a living
What do you ache for
Do you dream to your hearts longing
What do you long for
Is it worth being a fool
And bein’ beaten up
Let me ask you one question
Do you believe
DO YOU BELIEVE

Dream Giver
give me my dream
(big dreams big needs)
Dream Giver
give me my dream
(keep dreamin as you breathe)

I was invited to the promise land (and I came)
Blowin’ with prosperity
I was asked many questions
Defining who is me
Why was I put on earth (what do you do)
What am I supposed to be
What am I doing
What do I care about
What ill I be remembered to be
What I be remembered to be

Dream Giver
give me my dream
(big dreams big needs)
Dream Giver
give me my dream
(keep dreamin as you breathe)

Are you livin your dream
Or just livin your life, life
Are you livin your dream
Or just livin your life
Is it time…Time
It’s time

Dream Giver give me my dream
(big dreams big needs)
Dream Giver give me my dream
(keep dreamin as you breathe)

It’s never too late
It’s never too late
Dream as you breathe…….

Goin For A Ride

Goin’ For A Ride
Music and lyrics written by Vanessa Florez

Goin’ for a ride
Mamma where are you takin me
I haven’t yet been born
But I still care
Are you gonna leave me
Are you goin’ back to Colorado
I miss you mamma
I want to go to

I wanna meet my sisters
Go to there birthdays…..weddings too
See my nieces and nephews being born
I’ll play auntie, Sure I’ll em into trouble

How am I to understand, all of the things I was never born to know
How am I to comprehend that you would be an imprint of my soul
Right in front of me, I look into your eyes and I look into my own

Mamma will you make me a dress like my sisters
I’ll be so much smaller but I’ll fit in
Sometimes I don’t think I’ll be around
I don’t know if I’ll ever truly be found

How am I to understand all the things I was never born to know
How am I to comprehend that you would be an imprint of my soul
Right in front of me, I look into your eyes and I look into my own

I’m still the same child you left long ago
Lookin for something I know
I think about you
When I’m all alone
We’re connected by our souls…..BY OUR SOULS

How am I to understand, all the things I was never born to know
How am I to comprehend that you would be an imprint of my soul
Right in front of me, I look into your eyes and I look into my own

How am I to understand, all the things I was never born to know
How am I to comprehend that you would be an imprint of my soul
Right in front of me, I look into your eyes and I look into my own

Plays

Plays
Music and lyrics written by Vanessa Florez

He loves me
He hates me
When he needs me
He uses me

He does everything he says
When he thinks someone’s better
He play play plays….. You should move on
He play play plays…… You deserve Better
He play play plays…… He’s not the one
He says baby wait
I’ll be back someday

He’s in
Then he’s out
I’m so foolish
I’m so stupid
He wraps his
arms around me
I’m in love
So I stay stay stay…You should move on
I stay stay stay…… You deserve Better
I stay stay stay……. He’s not the one
Baby wait
I’ll be back someday

I’m all alone every night
He’s gone another week in LA
A party, another wedding
He’s never there, it’s never ending

He loves me
He hates me
What’s his problem?
It’s a mystery

He’s always in a meeting
Where is he really
He play play plays…..You should move on
He play play plays….. You deserve Better
He play play plays……He’s not the one
Why do I stay
I’ll be gone someday
I’ll be gone someday
It isn’t worth it
I’ll be gone someday
