Bio
Vanessa Renee Williams is a visual artist and vocalist. Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, she has called Washington DC home for over 40 years. A graduate of Howard University, she is a former educator with the DC Public School System. For nearly 16 years she taught elementary art at Patricia Roberts Harris Educational Center, before becoming a full time artist. She has recorded lead and background vocals and performed live nationally and internationally with many artists, including Yolanda Adams, Karen Clark Sheard, Patti Austin and Jonathan Butler, but primarily with multi-award winning composer Richard Smallwood. She has been a member of Smallwood's ensemble, "Vision" since its inception in 1995. She has recorded 2 independent projects, "Vanessa" and "Here I Go Again" and most recently recorded live with the Straight Gate International Church, and Hunter Memorial AME Mass Choirs. She also participated in the recording of WHUR's Soul of the Holidays CD/DVD.
