Hotwordz has been keeping an eye on this young man Chase who has grown in the independent industry of music. Our first shout out to him stated, "He was a diamond in the ruff"~ (Spoken). Van Leeuwen, the 21 year old seasoned rapper hailing from Pennsylvania, started to test the waters of Hip
Hop at the age of nine and has been progressing ever since. He’s a double threat specializing in engineering as well as creating catchy and thought provoking lyrics. Van Leeuwen has mix/mastered the new single for the Ying Yang Twins and has opened for Mac Miller. He has released singles including the ear grabbing “Fresher than a Dead Man” and the lyrically conscious “Serve and Protect” which happens to be laid over a chill reggae inspired track.

He admitted "Limitless", flexes his versatility, carrying several different vibes throughout each song. When I spoke to Van Leeuwen this is what he had to say about Limitless:
Sade': What were your main challenges and ambitions for this ep?
Van Leeuwen: The purpose was really to get across to the world that the only limits we have in life are the ones we set for ourselves.

Sade': How is it different from your previous work? Does it carry a similar message?
Van Leeuwen: It defiantly carries out the same message since I started doing music. My music is really about life experiences and interactions with everyone … my music grows as I grow.
Sade' : Tell me about a little more about “Limitless”, what’s the general vibe?
Van Leeuwen: There are 7 songs. It started out as a positive vibe you could have fun and relax to, as the type of music you can listen while on the beach, but then it ended up changing throughout each song.
Sade': What’s your favorite song from “Limitless” and why?
Van Leeuwen: My favorite song would probably be "Fake Friends". I love all them, but this one speaks to me on a personal level. We all have fake friends who say they are down for us and will do anything for us, but at the end of the day, its bullsh*t.
Sade': What’s the most fun song on Limitless?
Van Leeuwen: The intro is awesome…kind of has that beach vibe I was talking about. “Focused” is the most fun though. It’s about being focused and on your grind and still keeping it light with an all around bouncy fun track.

Van Leeuwen is also very excited to release his new song entitled, “That Weight” which dropped this week of February 22, 2015. In his own words, this track, is “about having dope stuff.” Van Leeuwen explains the song is a play on distributing his skills as an Engineer, Producer, and a Rap Artist. He reminisces as he used to call himself, “The Music Drug Dealer” when he first started out.
