Dick Van Dyke and The Vantastix began in 2000 as the result of a chance meeting between Dick and Mike Mendyke at a Malibu coffe shop.

In 2008 the quartet released a children's album.

Lyrics

Old Fashioned Christmas

Written By: Dick Van Dyke and The Vantastix

Oh how I wish for
and old fashioned Christmas
The kind we used to have
so long ago

With snow upon the church spires
and those chestnuts
roasting on fires
and pretty girls just waiting
underneath the mistletoe

Oh how I wish for
and old fashioned Christmas
with candy canes and
Merry Christmas chimes

Oh, I could go for
and old fashioned Christmas
and lose myself
in dreams of simpler times

Looking back
perhaps we were naive
but you know
on every Christmas Eve
There was peace on earth
and goodwill to all
while we sang each
Christmas Carol

Oh how we need
one more old fashioned Christmas
with Dasher Dancer Prancer
and the rest

Oh how I wish for
and old fashioned Christmas
that's the kind of Christmas
that I like the best
that's the kind of Christmas
that I like the best

Looking back
perhaps we were naive
but I pray
that someday we'll achieve
lasting peace on earth
and goodwill to all
it starts with just one
Christmas Carol

Oh how we need
one more old fashioned Christmas
with Dasher Dancer Prancer
and the rest

Oh how I wish for
and old fashioned Christmas
that's the kind of Christmas
that I like the best
that's the kind of Christmas
that I like the best
