Vapor Eyes has mastered the rapid-fire, hard-hitting rhymes fans expect from rap, but on his ambitious new CD, It’s Moving So Fast It’s Standing Still, he also incorporates elements of jazz, ambient, and gospel music. “Terra Incognita” sounds the alarm on global warming while “New Proof Material” delves into street crime. Space-age keyboards and sound bites add to the sense of intrigue on “Hypermart” and “Int3rlood,” while “Caressed By Sin” is smooth and seductive.

Every now and then we come across a random submission from an artist we never heard of that makes us think, "hey this is not too bad we should post this" as was the case with Chicago producer Vapor Eyes and his latest project Golden Beats Volume #1. He accurately describes his sound "music you’ll find a hip-hop heart that pumps blood into the arteries of downtempo, trip-hop and psychedelic territories". From what we've heard we can describe it as "chill tempo" a nice collection of beats maybe not something for most MCs to rap to but definitely kool to vibe and listen. Enjoy. - 95 Flavas

It’s an unfortunate turn that was bound to happen as DJs and electronic music and sampling all garner mainstream appeal– there are a lot of lazy ass artists out there. However, as easy as it is to become cynical of anything that comes your way, it’s always refreshing to come across those that still “get it.” Chicago based producer Vapor Eyes has put out quality material in the past but on Golden Beats Vol 1, he seems not only on the brink of something big, but he appears to be a largely confident artist as well, allowing each track to organically grow rather than forcing his hand or going the well-travelled route out of convenience. There is a decided understanding of nuance as well– it’s more than just textures, there’s an entire element of feeling involved that makes this album feel warm and intimate, instead of the cold and calculated vibe you get from a lot of other albums.
It isn’t flashy, but the album evolves so effortlessly, that you’d be forgiven for mistaking it to be the release of a big name producer. Ah yes, but if it was, it likely wouldn’t have the soul of one Golden Beats. This is the album you want to have in your stereo right now just in time for spring and summer. - Fuzzy Thoughts Media
Local producer Vapor Eyes takes bedroom beats to a whole new level. His latest project is called Golden Beats Vol #1 and it is the culmination of a year of pulling together an array of samples, sounds, and beats. The album is available for free through bandcamp, and will have you nodding your head no time. These beats are well-defined, soulful, and at times almost meditative in nature. - The Chicago Deli
"Vapor Eyes cater to those who seek buoyant, bubbly left-field electronica that draws on retro-rave influences and R&B-style rhythmic gloss without the mannered sterility. The sampled effects and voices augment the thumping grooves on Earthrising, and the bumping rumble of 'Dancefloor Divide,' with its casio-driven scratch beat, is the sound of shiny androids shaking their metal asses." -Illinois Entertainer - Illinois Entertainer
The latest EP, Crunk In Public, from the electro-hop duo Boomjuice is going to be a mainstay in my car stereo this Spring. This is the second release from Vapor Eyes and Capriquarius, and it finds them delving deep in the electronic and dance elements of their sound. Both of the duo’s releases can be downloaded for free. This new EP features collaborations with Keith Masters, Me Myself & Rhyme, and Ellen Loves Everything. It also features an interesting Radiohead cover, and as free download is absolutely worth getting. - The Chicago Deli Magazine
