Bio
Vega Star is a Chicago based duo, consisting of Collin Es B and Rico Armani. The two met 4 years ago while attending the Chicago Academy for the Arts (a privet performing arts school in Chicago).
While Rico studied film, and Collin studied theater, the two were most excited by the music they were making togather on the back of the school bus after school. Before long the two had formed a hip hop trio called Complex.
It was during the time that Collin and Rico were in Complex that Collin started learning to produce music and Rico began to take songwriting more seriously. " I studied alot of the greats during that time period, my cousin Jackie Wilson, Prince, Micheal Jackson, but I was also attracted to the music David Bowie made, I loved the theatrics of it all, the story telling, the fantasy and the concepts, everything about it just excited me...so I one day I made Collin a mix of the music I was listening to, and said try and produce me something like this?"
From there it took the two a year to create their debut as Vega Star: Dirty English: A Concept Mixtape. The two recived a spot opening for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs in Milwaukee after puting only two singles on they're myspace page.
"It's funny I played some of our music for one of my friends, who had only known us from Complex, by the time the 2nd hook came back, she was trying to steal my CD, so were doing something right."
