"E-zine Coming back soon....My Weekend"

I did however go see a pair of shows this weekend. First, I went to Chicago City Limits in Schaumburg to see Veilside and Woogie on Saturday. Veilside plays modern rock. I saw Veilside a couple months ago at Legends in Addison when I was actually going to check out a show for Court Jester. The guys in that band, especially their lead singer Tony, must have shaken hands with every person in that room. But aside from being good guys, the music was awesome. I was also told that this was their first go-round with the new lead singer, and that they had just come back to the scene so I went to the show to see how they've progressed. I have to say that I am impressed, as they looked a lot more comfortable, and really seemed like they were having a good time. My favorite song from them is called Stay Away, and it's a shame that they don't have that song on their page. I also saw a lot of Veilside t-shirts in the crowd, but they didn't have any merchandise at the show. Tony told me they were getting new ones pressed, and I have to say you need to! My girlfriend Ashley loves their cover of Live's Lightning Crashes, which sounds nothing like the original, and it's actually better. I didn't get the set list so I can't do a concert review here, but I hope to catch these guys again when they do another show, because this one was great. I liked that the guys in Veilside (or V-S as I heard them referred to) played some songs on Woogie's set, and they definitely outdrew the headliner on this night, which is hard to do since Woogie is a covers band! - Jason Colletti-Unsigned Bands Spotlight Chicaago

Bio

Veilside's members have played in local bands for many years. Members have been involved in local acts including Onyx, Khaos Theory, and Altered State of Consciousness (ASC). Vocalist Chris Heller's departure in 2005 led to the addition of Tony Engel on lead vocals in 2006. After toiling around, playing mostly to the four walls of their practice studio, the band has come "back out of hibernation" to play a contributor to the local scene in 2007. The current lineup consists of Ron Thomas on drums and vocals, Jon Badalamenti on guitar and vocals, "Cabo" Bob Hilton on bass, and Tony Engel on lead vocals. Look for VEILSIDE to play near you and check out the show!!
