"Influential"

VellVett is one of the most influential story tellers of our time. The world has no idea what awaits them from the trenches of Seattle. I expect more than good things from VellVett; I expect God things.

"Now that's a fine thang..."

When I first interviewed VellVett back on RessurWreck Radio (ep..#27 www.myspace.com/toryshine). I welcomed him to the show by asking him, "Whats been up?" and his response was "Nothing much man, just been in the Word..." This would truly be proven by the rest of his comments throughout the interview.

VellVett is a gifted artist with a "real" walk with the Lord. Many artists that I've interviewed hold their crafts up on a pedestal higher than Christ (whether vocalized or not), but not in VellVett's case. Whether ushering, media personality, or artistry, VellVett's first priority is the Lord. Honestly having him on the show was a big "sigh of relief", plus his music is hot. You can expect quality and professionalism from this cat.

One of my favorite lines of his is "cause Jesus paid the price already, now thats a fine thang". So whenever we hear that VellVett is on the roster, we too should say "Now thats a fine thang" lol (laughing outloud).

""VellVett is an artist with Godly swag and a touch of poetic pizzazz""

When you hear the word velvet you think of the soft double cloth fabric. In fact it was the fabric of choice for royal Europeans back in the day. So of course when I arrived at KMF (Kingdom Music Festival) the summer of 2009 in Sumter, South Carolina I did not know what to expect when I heard that someone by the name of “VellVett” was ministering. I was thinking to myself what fabric have to do with Jesus.

So I sit in my chair and decide to give this guy “VellVett” a try. The track starts and I hear a nice baseline. I’m thinking “okay that sounds pretty nice.” Then all of a sudden he starts rapping. I must confess when I heard the name I thought to myself “he’s a rapper.”However, when he walked on stage I said “he has to sing. Yes he’s definitely a singer.” He was dressed to the nine’s urban style unlike most rappers I had seen in the christian music industry. I sit listening to the song and before VellVett could finish the first line of the hook I was on my feet with the rest of the crowd. This was the first time I had seen everyone enjoying an artist while having so much fun since I had heard Canton Jones minister the summer of 2008. He performed a couple of song, “Saved, sanctified wit a swag…” and “Brokenhome.” Both songs speak volumes of VellVett’s passion for holiness and perseverance. He takes a stand for righteous living while demanding the same from his audience. His hooks are catchy but most importantly at the end of the night you walk away not questioning the validity of his words. While listening to VellVett minister it became apparent that winning lost souls was not just a claim, but a declaration before men. His rhymes are words of hope, words of truth and the words of Christ!

After the music ministers had shared their talents with the KMF attendees there was a meet and greet. I took a second to congratulate VellVett on a job well done. “I want to take a picture with you for my myspace page.” “Okay, sure he said.” Then he autographed a poster for my six year old daughter who was not in attendance, but cannot get enough of the song “Wit a swag.” She has even played the song on her cd player for her great grandmother. This is the everlasting affect I want music to have on my children.

It is always refreshing to meet an artist who doesn’t forget his/her supporter and does not get caught up in the industry. I have been around the music industry long enough to know that it does not take long for that to happen. VellVett was very approachable and much like the fabric he was very smooth. Simply put VellVett is an artist with Godly swag with a touch of poetic pizzazz.

Great days are ahead for VellVett. His ministry is heart felt and true to the kingdom. There are so many people who want to become rap artists. However, many are called but few are chosen (Matthew 20:16). That scripture’s more literal than we think! How do you now when you are walking in your calling you may ask. Well here is your answer, when a six year old and her great grandmother can dance to the same beat.

"An "Any Environment" Music Ministry"

Vellvett truly blessed our ministry when he attended our 4th annual Kingdom Music Festival in June of 2009. Over a period of 3 days he sacrificed, gave of himself, and ministered powerfully to the youth and the elderly.

Vellvet prophetically ministered through rap to convey the message that you can be saved, sanctified, and have a heavenly “Swaag” and he had the whole church bobbin to the understanding that as a peculiar people we receive all of our spiritual influence and charisma from our Heavenly Father.

I recommend his ministry in any setting rather it be youth concert, evangelistic meeting, or even a formal setting. He is able to adapt in any environment and be sensitive to the spirit and the needs of the people. Vellvett is a son of Isaachar, a wise young man, knowing the times and seasons.

Allow him to add strength to the work you are doing in the lord and I promise you that you will not be disappointed.

Grace and Peace,

"Wedding Reception to Remember"

VellVett... you were amazing! We wanted uncompromised swag at our reception and you gave just that! We have received positive comments from people that don't even listen to rap or hip-hop music. Thank you for being a blessing to us. You picked tracks that were relevant and appropriate for our setting. You helped us show the light, love and fun of God to many of our guest who don't neccessarily follow the Lord like we do. Your spirit was humble and your sound ministered to EVERYONE that was in the building. You had everyone rocking from babies to our elders. Thank you for assisting us in helping our guest remember such a special day in our lives - our holy union!

"Keeps The Crowd Entertained"

I have had the chance to watch VellVett perform on several occasions. Each time it has been a great show. VellVett's stage presence is only matched by the lyrics in his music. When VellVett performed at Freedom Fest he brought a great show. He kept the crowd entertained. When planning another event I would definitely inquire having VellVett perform again.

"Professional, Multi-Talented & Diverse"

My previous experience with VellVett's performances will not be forgotten. I have had the pleasure of viewing VellVett's performances on two occasions. I can truly say that you are very professional! The one thing that I really enjoy (the reason I asked you to be in concert on October 10) is that you are able to engage all age levels. Not many people can do that, especially with rap music. Of course the other thing I like is that your music is God-centered. I also have seen VellVett do a wonderful job as Master of Ceremonies. I will have VellVett back in the future!

"Anointed Artists aren't Plentiful"

VellVett,

Your pastor, Bishop Lawrence Williams, had asked if he could put you on the program at the Winter Conference held in Seattle, Washington in January 09. What an honor to be recommended by your pastor for ministry. I indeed enjoyed your music and thought it would be great for the Regional Teen Convention (RTC). The young people really enjoyed you in June at the RTC held in Rialto, California. I was so thankful that your ministry and your choice of songs were ministering and appropriate.

I want to commend you on your professionalism and Christ-like attributes. You were kind, considerate and represented your Church and God well! Musicians/artists are a “dime a dozen”, anointed ones and ones who really care are not as plentiful. May I admonish you to continue your walk with God, don’t compromise, and do allow God to continue to use you in His own way to reach the masses for Christ.

"Vital in Today"

This ministry is vital to establishing a significant force that will draw young people from the pressures of cultural acceptance, and to be a light for Jesus in the midst of confusion and chaos. We look forward to having VellVett come back and fellowship with us. We know that God has great things in store for this ministry.
