Veloura

BandPopRock

Veloura is an up-and-coming Pop/Rock/Alt act from NJ that has a catchy, melodic, sing-along sound and an energetic, crowd-pleasing live show. Performing both acoustic and full band sets around the NJ/NYC area, Veloura is gaining a faithful following, and is poised to take the world by storm.

Biography

Veloura was formed in the summer of 2007 by Matt Fugazzie and Burak Saro Tirtir, two friends that had previously performed together in the popular local band idiot Proof. Matt was also coming off a stint with Actiondale, a short-lived but very well-received Rock/Pop/Punk act. The two were drawn back together by a shared desire to write, record, and perform new and revamped material. Armed with an arsenal of incredibly catchy tunes with easy to sing along with melodies, the band began recording a mix of acoustic and full band songs and booking local shows in order to perform them. With a sound that can be described as a mix of simplistic Green Day-esque chord progressions, infectious blink-182-like hooks, and rapid-fire Third Eye Blind-type lyrics and voice lines that quickly get stuck in your head, Veloura has everything necessary to become one of the world's most popular bands. While having a very inviting style that fans have an easy time getting into, they hardly are another rip-off or carbon copy of the bands they have been likened to. Veloura has a uniqueness to them that can only be attributed to Matt's thick-toned, heartfelt vocals and unorthodox way of playing the guitar, as well as Burak's versatility and mastery of so many instruments and music genres, added to the pair's chemistry while performing together. Veloura's live show is notable for being a tight-sounding and energetic performance mixed with fun, easy-going banter that keeps the crowd into the band's every move from start to finish. This band has the magic that only comes around once in a blue moon, and with their hard work and determination, nothing is going to stop them from reaching whatever heights they desire.

Lyrics

Jack Nobody

Written By: Matt Fugazzie

Once upon a time in a land not far
A little boy wanted to become a rock star
But then he grew up and his dreams got crushed
Can't hold a job and he drinks too much

Last Christmas Eve, his wife took off
Now she's living out in Cali with some rich jerkoff
Goes out to the bar and comes home much too late
He can't even find the will to masturbate

So he grabs his keys up off the floor and says as he's going out the door

I think I'll get in my car and I'll drive away
Once I'm gone things'll be okay
No more trouble with the money, no more trouble with the pills
No more trouble with the man cause I can't pay my bills

He's tired of people never giving him a chance
He's tired of paying for that table dance
Why could'nt life have been everything he planned
How did he become such a lonely old man?

One hour later he's back at home
Back to his room to fall asleep all alone
There was nowhere he could go, there was no escape
So he takes a deep breath and settles in to his fate

He can't get in his car and drive away
That's never gonna make things all okay
Cause the trouble with the money and the trouble with the pills
Will never go away and neither will the bills

People still never give him a chance
He's got to keep paying for that table dance
Why couldn't life have been everything he planned
How did he become such a lonely old man?

Always Be With You

Written By: Matt Fugazzie

This year has been a holy mess
It's been one big fucked up test
Just to see if I'd love you less

I think that it’d be safe to say
They could throw it all away
Yet everything would be okay

And I’ll
Sing this song once again
Just to make you understand
I'll be there to hold your hand

When the nights get long and cold
We get tired and we grow old
As we watch our lives unfold

I don’t want it to be said, I just want it to be true
That ending up like me means ending up with you
I think I always knew I’d always be with you

I don’t want it to be said, I just want it to be true
That ending up like me means ending up with you
I think I always knew I’d always be with you

Always be with you

I’ve got this picture in my head
When winds pick up, and leaves turn red
Better days are still ahead

I used to think I needed proof
To figure out what was the truth
But all it is, is what we choose

And I’ll
Sing this song once again
Just to make you understand
I'll be there to hold your hand

When the nights get long and cold
We get tired and we grow old
As we watch our lives unfold

I don’t want it to be said, I just want it to be true
That ending up like me means ending up with you
I think I always knew I’d always be with you

I don’t want it to be said, I just want it to be true
That ending up like me means ending up with you
I think I always knew I’d always be with you

Always be with you

Feels Like Home

Written By: Matt Fugazzie

I look into the crowd, the bar is getting loud
Seeing your smiling face lets me know you’re proud
I have to leave today, I’m going far away
I would never succeed if I were to stay

I don’t know where I’d be without you believing in me

When I’m a superstar on stage with my guitar,
You’ll always have my heart, no matter where you are
When I feel all alone, I will pick up the phone
And as I hear your voice, it feels like home

I’m back out on the road; it’s starting to get cold
But we still have to play another month of shows
We pull into the town and have to check our sound
I really need a break, my voice is wearing down

I don’t know where I’d be without you believing in me

When I’m a superstar on stage with my guitar
You’ll always have my heart, no matter where you are
When I feel all alone, I will pick up the phone
And as I hear your voice, it feels like home

Under The Sun

Written By: Matt Fugazzie

I never thought that things could get so grim
I never thought that I'd be in the mess that I'm in
Stow away your anger, save it for another day
Just listen to what I'm about to say

Cause I'm trying to forget all the things that I've done
Leave them behind as I turn around and run
Can't go back to the place that I'm from
I guess I'll fade away under the sun

There's no other way for this to end
This will be the last message that I send
Stow away your anger, save it for another day
Just listen to what I'm about to say

Cause I'm trying to forget all the things that I've done
Leave them behind as I turn around and run
Can't go back to the place that I'm from
I guess I'll fade away under the sun

No loss of my inhibitions
No thoughts of your condition
In my life of contradictions
(My corruption is your destruction)

My life of contradictions

Down

Written By: Matt Fugazzie

I woke up today and realized you were gone
You're so far away and you've been for so long
It's tearing me up just waiting for you
I'm at a loss and I hope you are too

Cause I'm down
Say that I'll miss you now
I'll never let you down
Say that I'll miss you now...cause I'll never let you down

I gather my things as I go for a walk
A hummingbird sings as I go down the block
With fate in my hand and my heart on my sleeve
I'm not in command once you leave me

Cause I'm down
Say that I'll miss you now
I'll never let you down
Say that I'll miss you now...cause I'll never let you down

Back to my home as I crawled into bed
I'm all alone and I'm better off dead
With fate in my hand and my heart on the floor
I'm not in command once you walk out that door

Cause I'm down
Say that I'll miss you now
I'll never let you down
Say that I'll miss you now...cause I'll never let you down

The Surf Song

Written By: Matt Fugazzie & Burak Saro Tirtir

There’s something in my way, I’ll have to go around
The worst is far behind, nothing can stop me now
If you can make a joke, you know it’s not so bad
I thank god every day, for everything I have

Now that the sun is out, things might just go my way
No one can sit and frown on such a bright-lit day
There’s something in the air, I taste it on my tongue
We can forget the world while we are having fun

I want to go and surf all day
Climb on my board to catch the wave
The world’s on hold while I’m alive
I feel at home among the tide

Nobody knows for sure, how this whole thing will end
We all just do our best, and try to understand
Why would you waste your time, being in misery
Go take a look outside, there’s a whole world to see

Now that the sun is out, things might just go my way
No one can sit and frown on such a bright-lit day
There’s something in the air, I taste it on my tongue
We can forget the world while we are having fun

I want to go and surf all day
Climb on my board to catch the wave
The world’s on hold while I’m alive
I feel at home among the tide

Please, please don’t bury me, just send me out to sea
Forever drifting free, ash to salt is my destiny

I want to go and surf all day
Climb on my board to catch the wave
The world’s on hold while I’m alive
I feel at home among the tide

Now that the sun is out, things might just go my way
No one can sit and frown on such a bright-lit day
There’s something in the air, I taste it on my tongue
We can forget the world while we are having fun
