Bio

Brooklyn-based rock trio VELTA are releasing their second E.P., "Come Alive", and the video for its first single, "Cheat On Me", on iTunes beginning April 6. After releasing their first E.P. as a two-piece just 7 months ago, Emily Long (guitar/vox) and Zach Jones (drums/vox) called upon their dear friend Derek Blauser (bass) to round out the group's sound a bring a different sensibility to the mix. The results, the band and its fans agree, are thrilling.

Listening to VELTA today, one can certainly hear elements of the 90s influences the group grew up listening to. Inspired by everything from Sonic Youth and Superchunk to Fountains of Wayne and Big Star, VELTA brings a modern, power-pop twist to a classic grunge sound. Lyrically, Long's writing is as strong as ever, bringing a playful, tongue-in-cheek attitude to songs that are thick with sarcasm or laden with vulnerability. The E.P's first single, "Cheat On Me", puts a playful mask on the heartbreaking tale of trying to escape a passionless relationship.

In less than a year together, and less than 6 months as a three-piece, the group has garnered unanimous acclaim from fans and critics. Emily Long was featured in September's music-themed issue of Vogue Italia, and the group's very first single, "Dead Ringer", was featured in NYLON Magazine's December mix tape. VELTA has also had the privilege of supporting some of their favorite groups, including Cheap Girls and the Sidekicks.
