Egypt

6) EGYPT

(scat vocals)

In the heart
of ancient Egypt.
Where the Nile
overflows
its banks
Thick grass and reeds
surrender
where the crocodiles
mate
Moonlight on
sundry waters.
Palms wave
in a gentle breeze
Lothian bathes in silence
in the river of her dreams

River flowing,
warm and dirty
Through the heart
of dusty cities
Take me sailing
up your valleys
to your source
Let me understand
your force
and destination

By a wall
in temple gardens
stands a priest
in scarlet robes
No care
for doomed Atlantis
Finds the one
who seeds his hopes
So careful not to frighten
timid bird
of sacred fire
Lolithan bathes
with wet skin
in his river of desire

River flowing,
curving, restless
Snags our ideals
like a fish net
Take me sailing
up your valleys
to your source
Let me understand
your force
and sacred
purpose

Such love and lust
and mystery
in the wake
of what they did
Their crime will hurt
forever
and betray the Pyramid
Dam not
the flow of Nature
reads a wall
in a buried crypt
Where the Nile
overflows
its boundaries
in the heart of
ancient Egypt

For All

Written By: Veltkamp

FOR ALL

Did you ever
give your love
unto a stranger
Did you ever pick
a woman
off the floor
Have you tried to stop
the spread of needless violence
Or forged a peace
between two warriors

Did you ever
grant a favor
for the asking
Did you ever give
for nothing in return
Have you worked to stop
the endless undermining
Or pretended
you were stupid
so they could learn

Did you ever blow
the whistle
on an evil
Did you ever kiss
a tiny baby’s hands
Could you afford protection
for an innocent fool
Or put up with a boy
till he’s a man

Have you ever seen a miner
lose their head lamp
then need an out
before push turns to shove
Have you ever seen the world
as just a boot camp
Where people
just like us
learn how to love

If you answered yes
I consider you blessed
And if you did it in love
you have passed every test
When the world was in need
you answered the call
and if you did it for one
you have done it
For all

Did you ever say your life
would count for something
Did you ever bare your soul
unto a friend
Did you ever plug a levy
for the whole night through
And keep your promises
to a better end.

Did you ever thank your
God for this abundance
Do you see she gives us
more than we can use
Have you joined the friendly
natives in their sun dance
And helped the privileged
see their abuse

Do you realize there is
no one who can boss you
So protect
the precious earth
like she’s your mom
And take that stand
for justice
when it costs you
To speak the truth
when others
cut and run

Have you chose
a higher calling
than the rat race
Do you search
your heart
to find the middle way
Have you honored
those of good
who came before us
And built
the world we’re living in
today

If you still answered yes
you’re, for sure,
double blessed
and if you did it
for love
you have passed
every test
When the world was in need,
you answered the call
And if you did it
for one
you have done it
for all

pipe solo

Have you left each person
better than you found them
Have you done your best
to see the inner light
Did you read the books
that seek to set
your soul free
And resisted
downward spirals
with all your might

Have you fixed
the flaws before
they turn to cancer
And helped those
teenage rebels
make a start
To weather
all the problems
with no answer, yet
And find
the sacred center
in their hearts

Have you lived
all of the life
that you’ve been given
And forgiven
when you just
cannot agree
Have you tasted victory
when you've been beaten
for chosing love
above theology

Have you laughed
with those
still buried
in their defects
and in every
round of laughter
eased some fear
Have you come
to understand
your world is perfect
Then make your fate
and graduate
from here.

Grandpa was a Father to Me

Written By: Loren Dean

GRANDPA WAS A FATHER TO ME
c) 2008, Loren Dean Veltkamp

My Grandpa use
to show me the world
When I was sad
He would play with me
One afternoon
he took a nap
. . . .
Permanently

They dressed him up
like he was going to church
Put him down
in the ground
near Granny
Just when I realized
it was really gonna hurt
Suddenly his spirit
passed right through me

I said Grandpa
you were a father to me
Oh Grandpa
why did you have to leave?
I don't know where you're going
I hope you have some fun
I just remember sitting
on your knee
Waiting for a punch line
like a jumping bean
Oh, Grandpa
you were a father to me

Three score years
and a couple of moons
My daughter's family
came dropping by
My grandson hugged me
he had no idea
It was my appointed day to die
They laid me out
in a real soft coffin
and some proceeded to cry
but when I kissed
my Grandson's spirit
I watched the tears
well up in his eyes

He said: Grandpa
you were a father to me
Oh Grandpa
why did you have to leave?
I don't know where you're going
I hope you have some fun
I just remember
sitting on your knee
Waiting for the punch line
for an eternity
Oh Grandpa
why did you have to leave?

(Solo)

There's a whole lotta of grabbing
between the cradle and the grave
But all you keep is the
love you've made
I stood before Him
like an autumnal leaf
What had I done to earn
eternal peace?
Just when I thought
I was gonna be dead
The Lord lean forward
and he cocked his head
"You know I heard,
what your Grandson said…

I heard: Grandpa,
you were a father to me
Oh Grandpa,
why did you have to leave?
I don't know where you're going
I hope you have some fun
I just remember sitting
on your knee
Waiting for a punch line
for eternity
Then Jesus,
really leveled with me…

he said: "I remember when I walked your Earth
Through all the hardships,
disease and pains
When my Father
was proving my worth
My Grandfather helped me
a thousand ways"
I never knew that you had a Grandfather
But that seems right somehow
Who was this person?
Did he have a name?
"Most people know him as
The Ancient of Days

That's my Grandpa,
he was a father to me
(begin duet)
Our Grandpas,
they always have to leave
We don't know where they're going
We hope they have some fun
We just remember sitting
on their knees
Waiting for that punch line
for eternity"
My Grandpa,
was a father to me ....

(spoken) and, that's why
we have to leave!
"Do you understand now?"
I do. I get it!
Thank you!
'You're welcome"

Raccoons

RACCOONS

Hey, boys and girls! Want to get off with some Raccoons?
My neighbors are all raccoons, Raccoons (4x)
They wash their fur with Vidal Sassoon.
What a bunch of crazy raccoons. They stay out all night long, trading gossip and contraband
Throw garbage all over my lawn with their cute little hands

My neighbors are all raccoons, Raccoons (4x)
Eat their deserts with little coke spoons.
What a bunch of crazy raccoons. Put masks on Halloween, and never take them off.
Throw the best parties I’ve ever seen, but enough is enough

My neighbors are all raccoons, Raccoons (4x)
Shoot coke cans by the light of the moon.
What a bunch of crazy raccoons. My home took a drop in price, cause of what they did.
Race their Porsches up and down the street. And they don’t stop for kids!

My neighbors are all raccoons, Raccoons (4x)
Rocky left a note that said be back soon.
What a bunch of crazy raccoons. Grabbed a gun and followed their trail. Tracked ’em high and low.
Never found ‘em but I learned one thing. They sure play a mean banjo.

Home owners….

Egypt

(call to prayer)

In the heart of ancient Egypt. Where the Nile overflows
its banks.
Thick grass and reeds surrender, where the crocodiles mate

Moonlight on sundry waters
Palms wave in a gentle breeze
Lolithian bathes in silence
in the river of her dreams

River flowing, warm and dirty Through the heart of dusty cities
Take me sailing
up your valleys to your source
Let me understand your force
and destination

By a wall in temple gardens
stands a priest in scarlet robes
No thought for doomed Atlantis Finds the one who
seeds his hopes.

So careful not to frighten
sacred bird of sacred fire.
Lolithian bathes with wet skin
in his river of desire

River flowing, curving, restless. Snags our ideals like a fish net
Take me sailing
up your valleys to your source
Let me understand your force
and sacred purpose

Break>

Such love and lust and mystery
in the wake of what they did
Their crime will hurt forever
and betray the pyramid.

Dam not the flow of Nature
reads a wall in a buried crypt
Where the Nile overflows
its boundaries
in the heart of ancient Egypt

National Strike!

NATIONAL STRIKE

I walk the streets, of America,
and I’ve seen children left to die.
How can it be? in America?
Our sacred mission got capsized.

And the airwaves are full,
and the churches are full.
And the pharmacies full,
And the sewers are full

And my job is long gone,
and my cash flow ‘s choking
my credit is failing,
and my lifestyle’s croaking,

And the courts are all full,
And the prisons over flowing
And the shelters are full,
and the ghettoes are growing

My insurance is gone,
my prescription’s unfilled,
I want to belong,
but I’m on the wrong pills.
So I’m shooting off my mouth, while their taking my house,
I’ll be out on the street,
like a scared little mouse.

I grew up so sheltered, comfortable, and naïve
Wrapped in the flag,
so gradually deceived
Be good, work hard, eat,
shit, and shower
Now my life is destroyed
by a foreign power

I walk the halls, of America.
And I’ve seen all I need to see.
We used to be:
“of the people, by the people,
for the people”
Now we’re enslaved by companies.

And corporations don’t care, they’re just a legal machines
Gnawing their way,
through your savings

Since the civil war,
they’ve been infiltrating
Oil barons with bribes, and sneaky bankers in waiting
The politicians serve them,
pretend to be friends.
Cause they keep them in power with their contributions

It’s a dirty little secret,
the people don’t know
If they knew one percent,
there would be a revolt.
And our own government,
helps them stifle competition
Its paid for in cash
through “benign associations”

You think you are protected
by regulatory agencies
Let me tell you something, brother,
they’re your worst enemies
They refuse to issue patents,
they attack natural cures
They rubber stamp drugs
that kill and injure

Together they try,
to cut off God’s supply
to maximize profits,
no matter how many die
Fixing competition,
turns more profit than stealing
It reveals their true nature,
and the need for house cleaning

In all lives they raise
this horrible specter
It’s “the constant gardener”
in every business sector
You say you can’t believe a
single thing I’ve said?
Then research the case of:
“no hunger bread “

Commercials brainwash us
with ridiculous needs
Now we’re working three jobs,
to satisfy their greed
Liberty and happiness
are a tortured rumor
We use to be citizens,
now were just consumers

Its all about profits,
NOT protection, or reason
They are billing us for killing us, which is murder and treason.
As long as were governed by corrupt, selfish pricks
The American dream
is just a carrot on a stick.

They let a few through,
and they’re rich for a while
but the rest drown slowly
in their propaganda spiral
Un-free enterprise,
courting disaster.
If we take them to court,
the courts side with the bastards

And that’s where it stands,
March 2006
Jump in to gold, buyer beware!
Just remember,
You’re life ain’t worth shit,
when the corporatocracy
is everywhere.

(sax / synth solo)

And their junk makes us sick,
so we go to the doc
The doc gives us drugs,
that heal us NOT

And soon we’re in debt,
and too sick to work
And our jobs go to china,
done in prison by perps
149) And we go to our bank,
who refuses to help,
And our lives start to tank and,
of course, we blame ourselves

It’s Rothschild’s England,
with new tentacles
still enslaving little colonies
with financial bull
One if by land, two if by sea
Three if by bankers,
foreclosing on your country

“We care not who makes the pathetic little laws.
If we control the money supply, then we control it all”
Cut off this head,
and the people will see
The Federal Reserve
is just a private company.

I climb the hills, of America,
And I’ve seen the mystic’s prophesy
A beautiful garden,
of enlightened beings,
Where there is no scarcity

But the time isn’t yet.
Though the stage is now set.
Before things can mend, read “Love Without End”

If evolution is slow,
don’t resort to the blow
Help is already coming,
in a form you don’t know
You’ll be watching the drama,
of their returning karma
They’ll be brought to their knees, with wars and man-made disease

They’ve ripped off people
across this planet
started immoral wars,
when they just can’t have it
Contracts for weapons,
supplies, and lots of flags
raw materials, rebuilding,
and, of course, body bags.

Now we are victims
of third world revenge,
We should have never allowed those corporate binges
Now its justified war;
not mere terrorism
because we failed
to put enough
CEOs in prison

They’re still fighting crusades,
and they haven’t won yet
They waste our money losing,
then drown us in debt
