Venus Laney

The album, “El Elyon,” is the wonderful result of what can happen when a young woman from a small town in Western Virginia surrenders her life to Christ and decides to share her blessing through the gift of music. Venus traveled extensively with her family along the East Coast during her childhood. Through these years of instability, music was a strong source of comfort and support for her. However, it was not until her return to Tazewell, VA, her family’s home town, and marriage to Mike Laney, that she realized God’s true purpose for music in her life. Since that time, Venus has composed and sung music that glorifies God and seeks to bring her listeners to a personal appreciation of the Lord’s goodness and mercy.

Sometimes personal and revelatory, sometimes purely worshipful, and always graceful, Venus’s style is eclectic. Her compositions and lyrics appeal to a wide range of Christian listeners. Her CD, “El Elyon,” has been well received and the title song, “God Most High,” reached #28 on the popular IndieHeaven chart. The song has been included in rotation at radio stations across the country. Through her association with local “helping” organizations, such as The Wade Center in Bluefield, WV and Appalachian Teen Challenge in Athens, WV, Venus reaches out to bless and inspire others as she has been blessed and inspired. As a mother of two, today’s youth are at the heart of her ministry. In addition to teaching at her local church, Venus continues to extend her music ministry in hopes of relating the gospel to this often forgotten generation. She records under the label she and Mike have established – Esther Music, LLC. Proceeds from the sale of her CD are shared with those in need.
