Want to avoid Venus Envy? Don't listen to Venus Trap.

Venus Trap are: 2 voices, 2 guitars, bass and drums, some keyboards. We are a rocknroll blender. We use only the finest ingredients:70s punk, psychedelic pop, a splash of grunge,a dash of twang, and a heaping spoonful of sass. The result is twisted perfection. Our melodies will bury themselves in your head. Our harmonies will give you chills. You'd best tiptoe! Beware of wolves, snakes, espionage, covetous hearts, static on old tvs, looking glass girls and the men who lie to them.

We have been playing together since 2001. In 2003, we released our first e.p., Soul Candy and Cigarettes, a d.i.y. effort, now out of print. In June/July of 2007, we completed our first full-length release, The Key, recorded by Kevin Ratterman in his funeral home studio. A week later, we were on the road. We played in Chicago, Wichita, and Asheville. We ended our tour at the Corndog-o-rama festival in Atlanta.

Influences include: Television, Sonic Youth, Helium, The Stooges, The Andrews Sisters, Sleater-Kinney, The Slits, PJ Harvey, Kate Bush, Huggy Bear, The Bangs, Veruca Salt, Patti Smith, Gang of Four
