Bio

In 2005, many times on their own, other times with friends that used to visit in order to have lunch, booze and play, Tiago Vekho and Luiz Henrique Cudo used to meet and write slow, contemplative and even melancholic songs, that went beyond their previous experiences, which varied from grind core to punk-funk.
So, playing simple songs with their acoustic guitar and organ, sometimes with other instruments brought by these friends, rich musical possibilities started to come to light. Until the desire of showing to people what they were producing became necessary. Little by little, the band was formed and they started to perform frequently in the city of Florianopolis, Santa Catarina, Brazil.

Currently, the band is formed by Tiago Vekho (acoustic guitar, electric guitar, mandolin, harmonica and vocals), Maiza de Lavenère Bastos (acoustic guitar, electric guitar, violin, organ, piano and vocals), Luiz Cudo (organ, piano, electric guitar melodica, and backing vocals), Roberto Saraiva (bass) e Marcio Silva (drums).
As the initial desire of writing and playing songs came from the interest in artists and bands such as Will Oldham, Gram Parsons, Johnny Cash, Elliot Smith, Palace, Mojave 3, Arab Strap, Songs: Ohia and others, they consider themselves as a folk-rock band, since these influences become more and more evident in their songs.
In the beginning of 2007, they started the recordings of their first EP, called Stonehill Sisyphus, which was homemade, with the exception of the drums that were recorded in studio.
Emphasizing the early production of the band, the EP got ready in the middle of 2008, when they already have many new compositions to be listened to.
It’s ok; it was from different rhythms and people’s timings that the band was originated. It wouldn’t be different now.
The EP was released by Midsummer Madness, a Brazilian label responsible for the work of many important bands of the indie scene in Brazil. It is available in the link:
