"Live Show Reviews: February 2016"

"...a little bit Talking Heads and a little Blondie; a pretty great combination if you ask me. The group’s lead vocalist and keyboardist, Ali Ali Spider Check (Alianna Jaqua) was particularly emotive and has a pretty mesmerizing voice that I found to be one of the biggest highlights of the band." - What's Up!, Bellingham's Music Magazine

"You Want To Play In Verbal Tip's Club House"

"Ferociously catchy.... Verbal Tip are the kind of band you want to play your prom because: a. it would make your prom super cool b. it would make your prom a bit more like Pretty in Pink (I bet you could even rent Kristy Swanson for a tenner) c. because with their upbeat, catchy tunes that stick in your head like happy peanut butter on the roof of your mouth, you'd be guaranteed not to forget it." - Alt Fanclub, The Offbeat Music Blog

Bio

Based out of Seattle, WA., Verbal Tip is a dance-punk, synthpop, psychedelic rock trio heavily influenced by 80’s new wave and old-school punk. Founded by keyboardist/ drummer couple, Ali Ali Spider Check and Gary T Palmshaver and later joined by guitarist/bassist Dee Star, Verbal Tip is a band that creates out of need and is eager to share everything with their fans. Self-branded as “the people’s band”, they believe in flying their freak flags high and entertaining their audiences with poppy energy and an unapologetic attitude.

Formed in 2011 with an intent to find their own original sound, they have been playing shows locally and regionally for four years (plus a few dates in L.A. and the Bay Area) and have found that their personal chemistry has organically translated to a musical chemistry and a deeply satisfying creative process.

In April of 2015, they teamed up with producer Ben Jenkins (Walking Papers, The Young Evils) to record the band’s first single, Elastic, at Kill Room Studios in Seattle. The song highlights the trio's male/female attitude-infused vocals, danceable synthesizer hooks, and dreamy guitar melodies and was called "cute, catchy, and uplifting" by DJ Troy Nelson at KEXP.

Verbal Tip’s first EP, Stiffed was self-released in 2013 on Testerqua Records and described by the Seattle Weekly as a “catchy five-song EP” with a “B-52’s flavor” and “simple pleasures of keyboard beats and synthy melodies…”.  In 2014 they self-released their second EP, Phased, featuring Come A Long Way, a catchy, fist-pumping song which warranted their first music video.

They are currently working on their first full length release at Kill Room Studios in Seattle.
